I am looking into buying one of those kit cars like the ultima GTR or the factory Five GTM I think it is called. I am trying to figure out if the GM transaxle out of the new corvette will bolt up to an LSX motor with out having to use a torque tube.

Anybody have any input?

Transaxles is probably the most heavily discussed subject on the Factory Five and RCR forums.

People ask all the time about using a C5 or C6 transaxle.

They won't work, for a simple reason: the differential is behind the gearbox, pushing the distance from the rear of the engine to the rear axle centerline 18" farther than corresponding Porsche, Ricardo, or Mendeola transaxles.

JP,

If you don't mind the extra 18" b/c you are not using this setup in a Factory Five or other kit car, will it work?

Will a LS motor bolt up directly to the transaxle without the torque tube? Is an adapter plate needed or other special machined parts?

Thanks
