All converters have stall. And every converter will act different behind different motors. The more the torque the less the stall if I remember right.

More torque = higher stall speed.

Get your car into high gear at about 35 MPH (not overdrive) and nail the throttle. Check your tach at the same time.

That will be your converter's flash stall speed.

Converters will flash higher with more torque, so any given converter will act differently behind different engines.

Taller rear end gears (lower numerically) will also make the converter work a little harder, adding to the stall speed.

the problem i have is that i dont remember wat the flash stall speed was and i now have the motor out of the car and im putting my new 383 in! and i wanted to see if there was any numbers on it that could tell me what it is, because if i cant tell then im gunna buy a new one, i jus dont wanna waste money because it looks fairly new, also i dont want to put the motor in and find out that it isnt a high enough stall convertor and then i have to drop the tranny to take it out. thanks -dom

Dom,
Just bring it out to Pro Torque in Bohemia and have it freshened. They'll tell you what it was (to satisfy your curiosity) and adjust the stall to suit your exact combination--if different.
You've got one of the best converter manufacturers right in your back yard. No sense fiddling around.
