I may be looking for a new set of wheels for my '78 Camaro. Right now I've got wheels like those on the 2000 Corvette, along with the adapters to make them fit.
Personally, I like the look of the wheels, since they are simple and the spokes are flush.
I've seen some other wheels that I do like the looks of, but what I've noticed is that because they have the proper offsets to bolt up without adapters the center on the rear wheels is quite recessed, leaving a large lip. Since the front and rear lips are so different I feel the look is a bit "unbalanced".
Of course, I really need to see some of the wheels installed, in person, so I can really make an informed decision.

I'm waiting to get the front of the car completed so I can see how large a tire I can install, since that may allow a larger wheel with more of a lip to balance the rear.

Anyway, are there 9-1/2" wide 17 or 18" wheels out there that don't have a large lip?

If you are after the modern wheel look for your car, you are either going to have to buy wheels with a lot of backspacing (and use spacers) or go with an OEM wheel off a newer car.

My '67 has a lot of backspacing both front & rear which results in my wheels having a shallow dish to them. There is a lip, but it's small. I actually like the look, where it seems most guys want their mini-tubbed cars to have a hug deepdish wheel in the back. From the side of my car, you can't tell I have a 335/30/18 stuffed under the back of it.

You might want to look into a set of BMW wheels. They have some good looking and affordable wheels that have that look you are after. The bolt pattern is almost identical to the 4.75" pattern on most of our cars. More than a few guys around here are running bimmer wheels.

O.Z. Racing Ultraleggera.

The 18X9" size weighs in at 20.8 pounds, the set of 4 that I bought for my '64 Tempest have a 40mm offset (6.57" backspace). They were spec'd as the rear fitment for a '08 BMW Z4 roadster, 5 on 120mm bolt pattern of course.

Best thing to do is take measurements and figure what offset/backspace you'll need. Once you do that, finding a wheel becomes much simpler.

I didn't have an axle, or wheel, in mind last week. I wanted to avoid the cost of a custom axle while also avoiding high priced wheels. I ended up developing an excel spreadsheet that allowed me to quickly determine my range of offsets I could use with cheaper axles found locally.
I'm ending up with a 61" axle (1" wider than stock) on a set of wheels set up for a C5 vette. I, as well, wanted to avoid the huge lip look. The vast majority of my tire is behind the spokes.

As said before, BMW wheels are a common choice. They look good, and can be picked up relatively cheap. The only downside is the relatively small range of available backspaces. The BMW wheels come in two varieties, High or Medium offset. High offset is typically classified as around 45 mm. The low offset is somewhere around 22mm.

do you have a 335 on the rear wheels you posted pics of? is it a 10" wide wheel?

The silver car is mine, and the pic I posted was just a shot I took while I had a set of M3 wheels mounted for alignment use only. Turns out the wheels looked pretty good on the car. The blue car was another members that I used to show the Bimmer wheels. I don't have any info on this car. My car has an 11" rear wheel.

Here's my car with my regular Fikse wheels & 335s:
