View Full Version : Schwartz project "Temptress"

It's a 1965 Pontiac Tempest.
Body parts came in yesterday for project "Temptress". Our chassis is the new series 3 A body chassis with mandrel bent rails. Yes, it will be powered by a Schwartz built LS engine. We unloaded an LS3 and an LS7 off a truck yesterday, which one will we use? Turbo, SC, NA, decisions, decisions.
This autocross/track weapon will debut on Power Tour 09 and be driven by Aussie Grant Craft and Jeff Schwartz.

Going to be great, I'm sure. I love on your Olds project, you made the LS engine look like an Olds... Any plans to do something similar here?

Looks Cool Jeff .
I can't wait to drive a completed car with one of your chassis' in it.
I've seen a few , just never driven one.

Is there any way to get another 20 cubes out of the ls3 and make it an LS-396? If so, that and a twin turbo setup would be too freaking cool.

Nice, how about throwing something like this in between the frame rails?

Because Jeff sells LSx engine packages, not Pontiac engine packages.

Just please, oh please, tell me you're gonna keep that patina! An ounce of paint on that car would be criminal!
Okay, I'm only semi-serious... I know any project with the Schwartz touch is gonna be cool either way, but that patina is absolutely awesome!

I tried to get him to build it as it sits and Power Tour the hell out of it. I'm thinking DP-90 black and a gutted interior. Bench front seat and a 6 pt bar for the eventual 'track weapon' Jeff is known for. Don't forget the 17inch steelies and sticky street tires. Maybe we can convince him to leave all the side glass out of it for the most hardcore of us out there.

That is a shame, the Poncho would go a helluva lot nicer in a Poncho.

Thanks Code-Red, you got my point exactly.
I would also note that PT doesn't mean the car must have an LS motor (as great as these engines are).
I was merely pointing to another option in terms of how this car could be completed 8^)
I am sure Jeff will put together a wonderful Goat, just as Andrew (and Code Red) have or are in the process.
I also agree with Wyatt and others, you gotta find a way to leave some of that 'original patina' or wear on the car. Kinda like what B-Man has done with his '64.
Cheers,
Brian.
Is there a possible bore and stroke combo that could easily be done to the LS3 to produce 389 cubic inches? That would be cool.

I'm a pontiac guy from way back. I like pontiac engines. I did a twin turbo EFI 389 Pontiac for a 65 Lemans project that's in final assembly now. But I do 60 LS7's for every pontiac engine and a lot of LS3's. So to display my product, sorry, it has to have an LS engine.

Hi Jeff,
I can respect your position. I think the idea that WS6 and ProGoat proposed is very cool - an LS motor in a Poncho engine size, is very different.
How about a LS stroked to 421?
Love the rendering!

Here's a revised rendering.
we'll make it a 389.

That's pretty much how I had pictured the car.If it turns out that nice, the owner may not want it painted, ever. I really like the front end treatment. I'm assuming 'ram-air' from the headlight buckets?
jeff s
04-20-2009, 08:02 PM
yea, ram air from the headlights and brake cooling from the chin spoiler.

BTW, how is the TA?

When minitubbing, we always add 3.5 inches per side on A bodies.
The TA is on hold until my divorce is settled, could be a while.

Will there be a tail gunner or a back seat driver?
frankenstang

I think they won't have TIME to put in a back seat. Or exhaust (dumps?) Or windows, hence the 'washable' interior treatment.
jeff s

Yeah, no back seat, full exhaust with mufflers though, yes!
I posted a news feed on our home page, I will keep updating it throughout the days before PT.
