Hi, I went to SEMA in 2006, But I was given a pass by a friend and he has since passed away. I was wanting to go this year but didn't know where to get the passes. I would appreciate any info . Thanx Val:)

Unless you are in the 'business'... I wouldnt expect to be going this year.
They have clamped down on "outsiders" getting into the show and have changed the requirements for admission to the main hall. The outside is still kind of a free for all... although not totally open to the GP.
You pretty much have to be on someones payroll or have other 'verifiable' means of association to a business. Unless... someone around here feels like throwing you a bone. :yum:
You are absolutely correct. The SEMA Show is not open to the public. Getting access from "someone around here" isn't much of an option either as you would be putting yourself and the source of the credential in hot water...
My best advice is to support the media that cover the show - its really the best way to see it if you aren't authorized to attend.

I had no idea. This is really disappointing. Attending SEMA is on my "bucket list." This year I will be in LV a few days before SEMA for another conference and was thinking this may be the year that I make it. What a total bummer.

What?
Andrew is one of our Moderators....he is asking "sema" (I assume) to identify himself / herself. He must have a valid reason, don't worry about it...lol

Exactly. If a SEMA employee signed up to the forum, they are most certainly welcome, but they should identify themselves.

What is the criteria for an automotive business to be accepted to see the SEMA show?

Pretty liberal. All I had to send in was a copy of my tax ID and a check stub to prove my employment at a dealership.
from their website
POLICIES
Admission to AAPEX and the SEMA Show are for the trade only and as such, registrants may be required to provide proof of their affiliation in the automotive trade. We ask your cooperation in helping us maintain the high quality of attendance necessary to facilitate the exchange between buyers and sellers essential to the success of AAPEX and the SEMA Show for all who attend. Unfortunately the following business categories do not qualify to attend:
• Accounting firms
• Consumers
• Freight providers

• Installation/dismantle companies
• Insurance
• Law firms
• Modeling agent/agencies
• Packaging
• Printers
• Software companies nonautomotive specific
• Travel agencies
• Any nonautomotive companies

Aside from all of the normal Buyer, and Exhibitor passes I received a Racer/Raceteam pass. This is what I used the first time that I went, but that was in 1994. I dont know if that pass is still available. Also there are some booths and places that you cant get into unless you are a Buyer. There were a lot of people that would not talk to me the first year because of the type of pass that I had.
My suggestion on getting into the SEMA show is to build a car and get it on display in a booth or out front and get in to the show that way.

How about being a mod or admin at a major car forum that are filled with people that SEMA members want to sell to? :)

They will need a copy of your Business Lic.
Go to your City and pay the fee to get a business lic. Create a name that's automotive related.
Send it to SEMA registration with your $10 admission fee and your good to go.
