I am new to the site, but have been building cars my whole life. Also im a mechanical engineer. I have a 65 falcon. Just finished building my own front suspension.

the idea was to use fords chassis without modifications. Except for the 1.75" drop of the upper control arm, this gives a camber gain under compression.

So how do you post pictures?

here is a link to a blog i started, just to show off some pics.

Edit(i learned how to attach pics) so here is a picture of my suspension, just finished the TIG welding and paint so more pics to come. Those are AFCO double adjustable coilovers, hopefully worth what i paid.

Welcome to the forum. Not a lot of Falcons, but more than welcome. Suspension work looks good.

finished supension, just need to fabricate a chassis mount for the sway bar.

I am able to fit my 95 stang wheels in the front with a 245 tire.

i think that will be plenty for a 2700lb car.

Great to see a Falcon on here!
I plan on doing something similar to my '64.
Not that straight forward, what with living in England...

good luck,

64/65 falcon used to race in the brittish racing series back in the 60's. They raced against mini coopers. HAHA. funny combination.

i wanted to be different, Thats why 9yrs ago i bought a falcon and not a mustang.

But now i have to build all my stuff. Which is the BEST part of building a car. Actually designing and fabricated everything.

how much you selling for the front coil-over suspension? that looks stronger than the TCP stuff. looks trick. very nice.

i havent really considered selling it. Thanks for the compliment! I am a mechanical engineer, so i think my setup is better engineered for my application. I will consider your comment.

The afco double adjustable coilovers are ound $400 each plus springs and the rest of the materials are about another grand approx. but a lot of labor.

the car went to its first show with the new suspension (just a monthly show at a local restraunt). The drive there was great, im really happy with the suspension and handling characteristics. I got many compliments. The car got a once over from a local race shop that competes in the american iron series. He liked the car and the attention to detail. so that makes you feel good!

I like that suspension. You know that its a good job when you look at it and think, where did he buy that? Or, even better wasnt that factory?

My only real question is, why didn't you ditch those shock towers at the same time?

Bryce

i kept the shock towers because the are very important to the strength of front end. Ford did a good job with there structural design. Also i wanted to show that i have a complete bolt on kit with minimal chassis modification. Basically only two holes drilled per side. I personally dont like the mustang II design, with really short shocks. So i went all the way to the stock upper shock mount. But i can still cut part of the towers out and get a different high flow SBF head and headers in there.

suspension or whole car

im scared to add it up, but the front suspension is under $1500. I built everything myself so that saved a lot. I also got a deal on my double adjustable coilovers. 660 for both. List is at $486 each.

Very nice car and it's good to see another falcon guy around here. I wish I knew how to fabricate and just work on a car. I'm not very mechanically inclined and have trouble putting a stroller together. What engine are you running and is the color going to be blue? Also what size tires are you running in the rear? I too have a falcon (1964 sprint) that is restored. Welcome to the boards.

very clean car, NICE.

The engine a 289 with some mods. edelbrock Aluminum heads, victor Jr manifold. it should be high 300s hp.

The tires right are small 215s on a 7" wheel. This is the first thing i bought for the car 9yrs ago. but i plan on doing a mini tub to fit a 8.5" wheel with a 10" drag slick. But for the street i havent decided on wheels.

Im thinking the final color will be blue on the sides and a black top. But i have changed my mind 100s of times, haha

done with all calculations. camber curves and all. ask me if you want to see something and i can attach a screen shot.

camber gain is -0.63* per inch of compression. roll center at 2.59"

also if interested i can compare this with the shelby drop.

i also ran the numbers for the 3link rear im going to build. 146% anitsquat
