So I finally got some $$ to commence the next phase of my 69 Camaro project. I plan on going with the air ride 4 link in the rear, and want to go with 20x12 rear wheels and 325 or 335mm tires. I will do the DSE mini tub. Anyone running 19x12 or 20x12's with this set up? Any other things that will need to be modified for this setup? Super Chevy mag this month has a 69 camaro that they say has the air ride with 19x12's. But very little other info.
Thanks,
Derrick

Derrick,
We can help you with all the right measurements, and backspace recommendations. Give us a call, and we can talk some more about how want the car to sit, and what type of driving you are planning on doing with the car.

Can you truly fit a 12" wheel after a mini-tub? The biggest I figured could safely fit was an 11", unless it never sees any real driving.

Due to the excessive extra $$$ for the 20x12" wheels vice 20x10", I'm just going to go with 10" wheels and 275 rear tires... I have to keep the budget within reason....

You could always run the 305 Nitto on a 20x10 too for a beefy looking tire. Let us know if you need anymore help.

Will a 305 fit in the stock wheel well??? If it will, then I know what I'm going with!! :)

its a tight squeez but a 20 x 12 does fit with a minitub kit, we found that the Pirelli PZero Nero 325-25 x 20 tire leaves enough room for clearance, you will have to roll the fender lip as well, but most people do this regardless. I just got word today that my Forgline rims will be here the end of next week. i will get some good photos showing the clearance we are left with then.

Sorry Derrick, I thought you were still going to mini tub, but didn't want to fork out the extra $ for the widened wheel. I would not suggest a 305 in a stock wheel well. 285 is the widest I'd go...

I just got all my new parts in. 20x10" and 19x8.5" Rushforth Live wires, air ride, Baer brakes, Strange Dana-60 rear. The wheels even exceeded my expectations. Even the fit of the 20x10's is perfect. Thank you Jason!! Here are a couple pics :

Those look great. Are you going to roll the inner fender too, or will they clear? I'd love to go with the Air Ride setup on mine, but the cost keeps telling me no. I'd be curious once you get it on the road how often you find yourself changing the ride hight.
Nice ride!
Looks like Christmas morning in your garage. That's an awesome stack of parts there, Derrick. Glad to have our wheels on your project. It looks great!

The inner fender lip is already 'somewhat' rolled from the previous owner. But I'm pretty sure they would have fit without rolling them (although I can't be sure). The whole reason I went with the air ride is because I've only read good reviews, and I am sure I can nail the right look/ride height with this. Plus it will allow me to raise the car to get over some of the horrendous speed bumps and lousy driveways here in Hawaii when I need to.

I just got the car down on all fours. I about shat myself when I stepped back and looked at it. Even better than I imagined when I ordered the parts. Here are a couple pics. This is with the air ride all the way down. I'm hooking up the electrical for the air ride tomorrow to get some air in the bags.

I'll get some of it at ride height after I finish putting the new 4L80E trans in. I lost 3rd and 4th gears in the 4L65E twice now in 700 miles, so I decided to go a slightly different route with the 80E.

Is this correct? A 245/45-19 is 27.68" tall. That's a tall tire on any f-body, especially one w/air-ride. What tire size did you ultimately decide on for the rear? Looks very nice!

Slight mistake, It's 245/35-19's on the front. The rears are 275/40-20's. After putting them on I could have actually gone about 1/2" wider towards the inside (clearance between wheel and inner fender well). I'm pretty sure if measured right you could easily fit a 295 in the rear.
BTW, I brought the car to it's first show last night after putting on the wheels/air ride/brakes. A dealer did an unveiling of the new Camaro and invited out local club for a show. Outstanding response to my tires/wheels combo. JayR, everyone LOVED the Rushforth wheels and the stance.
Derrick
Thanks for representing on such a killer looking ride, Derrick! I'm stoked you have the only set in Hawaii but as a businessman, I'd love to get some more around the islands and maybe I can write off my next trip down there! HAHA! Glad the car is on the road so quick. Thanks again for carrying the torch!

Since I had a bunch of people ask for the backspacing, I thought I'd post it here. The fronts are 19x8 with 4-7/8" backspacing. The rears are 20x10 with 5-5/8" backspacing. They fit perfectly except I had to roll parts of the fender lips. Actually I could probably have gone with another 1/2" backspacing and still cleared the inner fender well.
Here's some new pics of it sitting in the driveway.

Sooooo. How "man-ly" is this? About 2 months ago I slipped and fell while running to get out of the rain and landed pretty hard on my ass. Well today I went to the doctors because it was still pretty sore. Turns out somehow I broke my ass (tail bone)!!!! So I thrashed on the car last week with a broken ass. This just shows that when I'm in the garage nothing else really matters... Just thought I'd share this story.

Thanks all. Unfortunately, my fuel pump went out on me yesterday. So I'm going to get rid of my 'jerry-rigged' set up and get the DSE or Rick's fuel tank with built in pump next pay day... It's pretty bad when the tow truck driver has to take pics of my car as he lowers it from the truck and writing his $75 bill (for a 1 mile tow). I'm in the wrong line of work!

That was the cool thing. I didn't have to measure a thing. Jason Rushforth is so familiar with the 1st gen camaro's I just told him I wanted the livewires in 20x10's and 19x8's and he sent the perfect fit. Actually I could have probably had another 1/2" of backspace and not even had to roll the fender lips...
