What hotel are ya'll staying at? I live up in Acworth, so this is about a 4 mile drive from my house (the Red Top Auction site). Also, if any of you are looking for a killer southern breakfast, there is a place called Doug's Restaurant in Emerson (about 1/2 mile west of hwy. 41 between Acworth and Cartersville, which is about 1.5 miles from the auction site) where we usually hold jeep club meetings.....they call it the Emerson Hooters ;)

Anywho, looking forward to seeing everyone out there and getting some cool pics / videos of the event!

Hey I was thinking about attending with my 69 Camaro which is pretty much stock. I'm not going to have to have any kind of special safety equipment am I? If so, what?

It sounds interesting but I don't own a helmet which from the Drag strip site means I can't race. And I have not been on a drag strip since 1974 lol And for some reason driving a 72 Chevelle 4 door in the autocross seems pointless.

Jeff, I use to buy a lot of parts up there for a Z71 and a burb I use to own. I'm trying to make it out there today for the Camaro unveiling. If I don't catch you there, I'll be at the Red Top event (although my project vehicles won't) :(

Hey Jeff I'll need one for my pass. I promise I don't have head lice or open sores and I keep my hair clean so you won't hate me later. I have a big head though, it's almost 24 inches around at the fattest part that translates to an x-large or a 7 1/2 hat size. How big is your helmet?

My helmet is a large.
It should work.
I don't have a large head , just a lot of hair.

Be careful what you wish for Ken. Jelvis has a vintage 1972 open face motorcycle helmet that was worn by Evel Knievel when he didn't jump the fountain at Ceasars Palace! Then Elvis wore it in one of his bad flikcs. Then Jelvis stole it from Graceland. And the oil has never been changed in it!

Love you, Jeff!

Beggars can't be choosers so I'll take what I can get. So when I take the helmet off my hair will be molded into the shape of his? ....Elvis loved cars......

12 Seconds in an 1/8th mile........That's slow Payton ..

...it will probably be 12 seconds with all the hook I will get with the run flats. I was leaving at idle last time I ran and pedaling the car out through second.

My car is by no means a drag car

Heck , my car only runs 9.80 in an 8th.
I think I may have run a 9.30 one time.
That's the one time I actually got it into 3rd gear. LOL

Mine's not a drag car either.
( Stiff suspension , not enough weight transfer , hard tires , 3.31 gears , only 350 lbs/ft of torque )

I think we will all be a little dissapointed in our ProTouring cars at a drag strip. They're intended to do alot of things well but drag racing isn't one of them. I just hope some real drag cars don't show up. Even with racing fuel ($$$$$$$$) our cars could never keep up with a serious drag car.
Maybe the autocross can be at the end of the 1/8 mile and we could combine the time, then we'd have a chance against them.
It could go something like this...
Wait for the tree... 0 to 100 then HARD braking and dive into the cones course (and don't knock one over) then......TIME!
Insurance companies killed the musclecar 40 years ago 'cuz they couldn't turn or stop, our cars can! :twothumbs
