If you can have them take it to the airport, Forwardair is the best deal going, airport to airport.

Otherwise, shop around, rates will vary tremendously.

This is just an fyi for anyone who needs to have large items like fenders bumpers etc shipped, Grey hound bus lines is a great option and much cheaper than most freight companies. An engine and trans might be a bit big not sure It would not hurt to ask.

Whatever you do make sure it is lagged down well to a skid or pallet. Also I am not sure what Forward Air's protocols are but I know when I was in airfreight they would not accept anything with any kind of residual fluids for obvious reasons. Now they are air frieght only but the threat of fire or worse is still there so I am betting they throw it on a truck. I just saw one the other day.

Ive used old dominion before. They were priced pretty good and fast. I had my trans shipped from nc to chicago and it only took three days. Worth a shot. Just make sure it held down on the pallet good, forklift drivers dont care about other peoples stuff getting damaged.

I've always had great service from UPS Freight. Their tracking number system is the best there is. It's cool to go on line and see where your package is. I've had vending machines, hoods, wheels, tires, etc., shipped with no problems. Good luck.

engineshipping.com gave me a pretty decent quote recently, but i lost the ebay auction so i never used them and can't speak for the quality of service.

www.freightquote.com - You can get quotes from multiple freight companys.

www.uship.com - You post what you are shipping and where you are shipping it to in the country. Then different freight/moving/truckers bid for your business.

Using southeastern freight, called around and they have a good price and shipping time line seams reasonable. $505 lift gate at both ends, and insured to 6500.00. Three days from time of pick up, and COD.

Thanks for all the help,

Dallas

I've used Old Dominion too, no problems, they've been around a long time. Call around for quotes as prices can vary quite a bit. Be sure to work out the details regarding lift gate, pallet jack, etc, to avoid an engine sitting on a truck with no way to get it to the ground. If it's being delivered to a residence, verify they will indeed deliver in a residential neighborhood - some will not.
