Well I fell for another 65 fastback shelby gt tribute and it arrived yesterday.. Only problem is I am finding that getting basic info on this car is hard to do. I know it is a 65 fastback originally with a six cylinder in it assembled in NJ. The VIN told me all of that. Now it has a 302, 4 SPEED TOPLOADER, 4 wheel Disc brakes, shelby body mods etc... in it as well as a host of other parts to make it a shelby clone. Only problem is I am curious about other things that were in this car. The trim tag I have is on the PASS Fender under the hood. I know it originally was on the drivers side door but this car was COMPLETELY done over and the tag was placed on the fender now. Anyways Here is the way it is laid out
26 H6 5T09T197171
63A K 26
BS K
Cant find anywhere that will decode it in this sequence set up. Maybe it is an aftermarket tag? Also, someone told me if I want to look up the engine code I have to crawl under the car, remove the starter and take a look???? Are you kidding me? Why in the world would Ford put it there??? Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks
Mark

little lost on the other numbers with the info i have
i think the 26 is the interior trim color - black vinyl with black appt
the K might be the exterior color Silversmoke Grey
no idea what the "BS" code means
the other 26 code be the DSO code of ordered in Washington
H6 might be the date code
if you can read the specific code above each number it should be broke down with abr descriptions like "trim axle trans body"

Yea the tag that is on the fender under the hood looks nothing like on that site! I saw that before. The car was totally redone. So I am assuming the person who did the work lost the tag and put this one on the fender. Anyways, I really doesnt matter since the car is a shelby GT clone. Everything has been changed in it. I was just curious.
What about the location of the motor code? Is it really under the starter and do I have to remove it to find that code??
This thing is gorgeous all around and even underneath! The motor seems to be super strong and really wants to pull. Only problem is although it has four disc brakes, they are not power and their is no power steering either. That doesnt bother be except for the fact that it nine turns of the wheel to get it to turn! Definately need HYDROBOOST, and either a short ratio box or a better rack and pinion system....

The block code can somethimes be seen without taking the starter off. The BS code could have been "Body Stripe"? The marked options like that, PB,PS,AC ect.
