What gives? The reports we got from GM said they were focusing on Buick, GMC, Chevy, and Cadillac, Saturn was going to be sold off or shut down, and the rest were left in limbo. There was a later statement that they were going to sell off Saab and Hummer.

I distinctly remember that information... I may have even posted part of it here.

But I just saw a Saturn commercial for this deal: http://www.saturn.com/tools/currentoffers/search.do?cmp=educators_redirect

So whose running the commercials? I don't remember hearing about Saturn getting sold, and the web site still has GM all over it. So reasoning says GM is running the commercials. So did they have a change of heart with Saturn?

It certainly makes more sense than Buick if we're talking about sales in America.

Just found this off a hyperlink off Saturn's website:

http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayServlet?target=http://image.emerald.gm.com/gmnews/viewmonthlyreleasedetail.do?domain=828&docid=52168

It's weird because it outlines GM's viability plan they submitted to congress, but part of the plan, listed right there is:

"Saturn review complete; sale or spin-off possible; if not, phase out the brand at the end of current product lifecycle"

So.... are they running ads to entice a buyer?

They're just explaining "Hey, if we get sold off or shut down, we're still going to honor the warranty, so PLEASE take advantage of the 0% financing, the payment protection program, the 5 year / 100k mile warranty, etc., etc."

They're really going the extra mile. If I fit in a Sky, I might have to give it some consideration.

We just had '09 Outlook and Vue's as rental vehicles both had awd and were great in the snow. I'd buy either one of them or their counterparts.

I saw that commercial too.

The first thing I thought was that it's ironic that the theme of their new promo is "total confidence". Strange that they are going with that theme when GM doesn't seem to have total confidence in the brand.

Seems like they are trying to use advertising to cover up that little piece of info.

I do like the look of the Sky though. I thought it would be a cool car to buy my wife when her lease is up at the end of the year.
