I am at the time right now where I need to start working on my front suspension. The car will be a show car/weekend cruiser. I need everything up front replaced. All new arms, shockwaves, steering, etc. Should I just smooth and paint my stock frame and buy all the aftermarket accessories or fork over the extra couple of grand for a Speedtech one? Is there any advantage except adding bigger meats and having a nicer looking frame if my car gets judged at the shows?
The rear susp is a G billet if that matters.

I think there's some mods needed for shockwaves. Might be more simple to do the ST.

Just a showcar/weekend cruiser? No need for aftermarket subframe then. Just upgrade the LCA/UCAs and add some coilovers.

It depends on your build...but that is one of my favorite parts of my car is the sub. It's nice to have a newly engineered peice in an old car. That stock frame is an ugly sob. The speedtech is a nice looking sub. Just keep in mind that you will need different headers.

With Shockwaves you will spend just a tick north of $3000 on your stock subframe. To do a Speedtech, you can do it for right at $5000.
Knowing what I know about the car your building, and the other parts you already have, I would do the Subframe, only because your building such a killer car.

Hell, if you have the money and don't mind parting with it...you might as well go with the Speedtech. Even if it not used / abused, you always have the COOLNESS factor!

We have headers that FIT BBC SBC and LS with the RACK and a 2 joint shaft. they are made by Stainless Works so they are top quality,
BTW the headers also Fit The STOCK sub frame with a rack so if anyone is going down that road it will save you from modifying any other header on the market, they also get you away from having to use the 3 joint shaft kit.

19 X 10 with a 7" BS and a 275/30/19 tire is what Paul from Speedtech runs on his car.

can you use dse upper and lower control arms with both the speedtech and the alston subframes? The speed tech cost about 2000 and the alston subframe about 1800, is that correct?
Thanks

I have one of the Speed Tech frames and love it. I'm not sure about the Alston one, but yes you can run the DSE control arms. I don't think you can with the Alston though. Also, the Speed Tech one has an adjustable trans cross member that comes with it and will work with a TKO. I'm putting a TKO in mine. Here's a link that has a bunch of pics of the frame before powder coating and after: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44374
