Need help with wheels and tires for my 61 bel air

I am looking at getting a set of 17" wheels for my 61. I am planning on 17"x8". What backspacing? 4.5"?

For tires I was thinking on a 255/50/17. I am wanting some sidewall on the tires, that was my reason for going with those over the more common 245/45/17.

Will those fit okay?

With a stock brake set up the 4.5 B/S will work just fine. I would like to see a little more B/S for the rear but it will work.

I ran that size tire on the rear of my 65 Impala with TTIIs with no problem. Plenty of room.
