Crossover vs non with large Mufflers

Hey guys, this is my first time to post but I have a question. I have a 67 Camaro I'm building back for the street. It has a 460BBC with a 8-71 which will have about 10psi max. I already built the exhaust but decided to make a lot of changes to the car for more dependability. While I'm doing these changes I'm thinking about a crossover right before the pipes go over the rear end. The headers are Headman 2 1/8" with 3 1/2" collectors and 3 1/2" header buddies. The tubing is 3 1/2" with mandrel bent elbows and go's over the rear end to some 4 1/2" flowmasters. If I put a 3 1/2" crossover before the mufflers would it quieted the tone or just make it sound like crap.
I just built a blower motor exhaust on a car with 4" system and 4" top ten mufflers and it was very aggresive sounding. I'm hoping mine doesn't sound that loud.

All of the times I've heard a car before and after a crossover was added, it made the car's exhaust sound smoother and usually altered the tone at some rpm. If it was me, I'd add the crossover.

Put the cross-over in... it will quiet it down a little... and it will maintain that 'aggressive' sound that you were originally after.

If you use the 'spray paint technique' to find the temperature concentration points (just aft of the collectors,) on both tubes... that would be the point where you would want to attach the cross-over tube.

Thanks for the reply guys. I've read about the paint on the tube trick but the tubes are so big its hard to make them go side to side without clearance issues unless I do it past the floor pan. I think I'm just going to make a X back there so the mufflers can share the load and distribute the flow thru them better. I dont know if I would have benefited from any scavenging with the tubes already that big any way. I'm really just looking to quieten the car some but still have big flow with big exhaust.
