Planning on doing some road trips and was thinking about getting an alarm with a 2-way pager. I don't need remote start and currently have no power locks/windows, but will eventually. I mainly want to be notified if it gets bumped or doors/hood opened when I'm sleeping in my hotel room. Any recommendations?

DEI (http://www.directed.com/)... since they own pretty much all the companies now.

I have always been partial to the Viper/Python line myself...

Do it all the time. We install DEI products as well. Viper and Avital mostly. One thing on the 2 way, is that the batteries don't last as long.
You can go one step further and put a gps locating system in as well. That way, if it is stolen you can find it really easy.

Except for the fact... that if the thief is any good... he will have already spent the $19.95 on a GPS jammer, which renders that option completely useless.

Although... the 'average' crook is either someone looking for a joy ride or isnt going to steal it to ship overseas.

But... it's something to think about.

I thought of getting this. http://www.grantproducts.com/c-107-vehicle-security.aspx It won't stop a flat bead but will probably be effective for most instances. can't steer it can't steal it right?

I have the DEI 2-way alarm in my Toyota 4x4 FJ and have no problems with it. It does run thru batteries semi quickly and I replace the small "AAA" about once every 8 weeks approx.
