when i bought the car it had the GW upper arms already, when i went to go replace the tie rods the factory 65 tie rods would not fit they where too short. i thought i read somthing awhile back saying that if u run the GW arms then u need different spindles like b body ones, could this be my problem? i have no ideal what B body spindles i have on the car so what would be a good way to find out what size tie rod i need? by the way its for a 65 chevelle

There are 2 types of GW arms. One set for the B swap and one for stock.
Are there stampings/castings on your rods?

the numbers that where stamped on the bottom of the old rod and the new one where the same, but the old rode the stud was longer and the new one was shorter? as for what gw i dont kno what kind they are, do they have part numbers stamped on them i could look up?

The stock spindle uprights have bolt on steering arms. The B-Body spindles have the steering arms as part of the casting. That should tell you what uppers you have. Were there tie rods on the car when you got it? Do you still have them? If you do, you can take them to the parts place nearest you and have them match them up if they have any.

i think this spindle is all one ill have to check that tho. the problem with taking the old tie rod to the store is i had to cut some of the top off so i could put it back on the car to roll it around.

As long as the body is ok and the shaft with the taper on it is there it should be ok. If they're good they should be able to match it up.

If you look at the GW site you will see the part number break for the different years and for B/F spindle or not. It's pretty much a 50/50 shot there, could just take a chance, or call them.

Another thing to concider is that it's possible someone swapped the centerlink too for a more available, later-year. Suggestion: If you need outter tie rods, might as well replace the inners too, since you will most likely have to do a front end alignment anyway. For that matter, might as well do the center link too. Call GW, they will tell you immediately what you need, what application you can source the parts locally for, and may even have competitive prices.
