Ok...as some of you may know(if you read my car show post) I do have a car show put together for the 18th of April...we are doing either plaques or trophies and i have the following catagories...Under Cars....Best Out Of Pro-touring, Best Out Of Pro-Street, Best Out Of Restored Original, Best Out Of Resto-Mods, Best Out Of StreetFighters, All Out Best Car...For the Trucks...All of the above EXCEPT Pro-touring and Streetfighters...unless some of you say that i should put trucks under those catagories...I have Best Daily Driver...The only two catagories that cars and trucks will be combined in will be...Best Out Of Rat Rods, and Best Out Of Trad Rods.........Now am i missing anything....any opinions????? Good luck defining those in a way that makes people not real angry – it’s harder than it sounds. For instance a sizable annual Camaro show in Delaware insists if you have a roll bar you are pro-street. I know a few guys that pissed off and won’t be back. What’s pro-touring – big wheels? (I’m illustrating, everyone settle down, lol). How do you define daily driver? And for a new show how well do you really think you can anticipate the car population that will come? You don’t want one category with 1 entry and another with 35. Not trying to bust balls, just trying to relay what I have seen.

Who is voting – judges or popular vote? Because classes like pro-touring vs. pro-street may be very confusing to the casual attendee. We run an f-body show every August, and even 1st gen vs. 2nd gen, etc., seems to confuse the casual attendee. Plus counting votes can be a PITA so limit the # of voting categories.

You may want to simplify a bit more. Best truck, best muscle car, etc., and do it by time groupings - not actual years so you don’t get trapped putting an 82 Z28 in one class and an 89 Z28 in a different class. Kind of like this:

Best Antique (say 1900-1959?)
Best Classic (1960-1981-ish).
Best Late Model (wherever classic leaves off - present)

*End years as a basic guideline, maybe base on model ‘gen’ and when it started, etc.
Here is where knowing your basic car population can drive classes.
*Break out Import vs. Domestic into mirror classes or import as its own single class?
*Break out trucks from cars, or offer mirror classes, or maybe just late model trucks?

Possible generic categories or special prizes you might consider:
Specialty/Emergency
Motorcycle
Mostly likely to get pulled over
Best project/potential
Most unrecognizable
Best underhood
Best interior
Best paint
