Ok sponsers, does anyone offer like g bar rear kits for the 70-73's? I think with mini tubbing the car it would be better to remove the leaf springs. The only concern I have is the use of a rear sawy bar. I want the car the handle like it would with good leafs and a nice meaty sway bar. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm trying to get an 11" wheel w/ 315's under the car.

Depending on budget the new Art Morrison rear clips are nice.

I went to Alston's website and didn't find it for the 2nd Gens. All I found was Mustang and Cougar rear systems.

Chassisworks, Air Ride Technologies, Heidt's, Detroit Speed and Engineering... They all offer rear suspensions for the 2nd gen Camaro.

I like the Heidts rear kit, but I wonder if you can install a rear sway bar?
Another fit of shameless self promotion...

You're set on moving away from leafs? You can do 11" wheels, 315s, and sway bars on a leaf setup with little modifications, and it will handle well.
One thing to keep in mind is that you may not NEED a large sway bar in the back for 'proper' handling, which depends on your setup. Believe it or not, GW has been pounding 2nd gens and found lap times increase without a rear sway bar. Corner entry and exit speeds improved with the removal of rear sway bars with certain spring & shock combos.
315s look cool, and in a drag app certainly help. And that's dependant on weight transfer. Once you go over a particular size tire, the weight is distributed over such a large area, that you can loose traction, believe it or not. Look at the 10.5 tire cars for example, and what they're doing.
In a max-effort handling application of a 2nd gen, that's still on the street, about an 11" wide tire is about max you want to go. As an example, the typical 275/40/17 is about 10.3" wide. A 315/35/17 is about 11.6" wide. a 295/30/18 is about 10.8 wide.

Cool thanks for the info. I would rather keep the leafs if I could. I think it would be a little more cost effective for me. The reason I was looking at the bar style suspension was the room it makes for the bigger tires. I thought about an 18X10 or 10.5 in the back with the Z06 size tire (295/30R18 or maybe it was 295/35R18). This would give me a little better tire selection too. I'm not dead set on a 315, I just really like that tire under the car. That is why I love asking questions on here. I want to learn as much as I can before I cut on the car. I'm hoping to maybe get CCW Classics for the car. John will make them fit and they are a little pricey for me right now but I am gonna do all the metal work on the car first. I really do appreciate your info. What do you have on the back of your TA?

I'm fairly certain I have 285/35/18 on a 11" wheel, but would have to double check to be sure! Might be a 10" wheel. Pretty certain the fronts are 265/35/18 on 9" or 10". I can't remember if it's 9s and 10s front/rear or 10s and 11s front/rear! Maybe it IS an age thing!?!
Anyway, there are matched sizes for the 255/45/18 and 285/40/18. There is even a 295/45/18, which gives you a little extra height, might fill the wheel wells a little better. Look at the Nitto NT 555 Extreme, they make a wide selection of sizes to get the desired 'fill' (and rake if you choose, though rake should be suspension).
Wheels have to be one of the hardest items to choose for a car, kid you not. Style, size, and cost are factors that vary greatly. I try to find wheels that are inexpensive and at least close to the size/offest I need. Centerline just came out with a new series, might want to look at those, but billet is a pain to polish all the time! ROH has always done me well too, inexpensive, good designs, and acceptable offsets. Thing with wheels is that in a few years, my tastes may change, so I don't want to spend a gazzilion dollars on them!
