It would definitely be a fun little car/go cart. I went to their shop a few weeks ago to check out Sl-C for a future project. Very cool cars.

Seriously, I mean monumentally bad reputation with those folks. Of course, you can say that about a large part of the kit car industry.
I'm partial to this little thing

Which is imported to the US from the UK from these cats

...of course they have no reputation at all, but it's an interesting package and the kit price is sure compelling.

Knowing how zippy the LNF is in my HHR, I could only imagine what it does in a vehicle 2/5th the weght. Would be really fun around a road course!
The Atom comes with the supercharged Cobalt engine as an option. In something that light, you don't need or want a big engine.

Definitely an ariel rip off. But at a fraction of the cost. I want one.

Thanks for the heads-up True.
Those Lotus 7 replicas sure look like fun. I wonder what an LSX would be like in something like this -

It would be a bit like a Brunton Stalker (7-clone with a GM v-6) only with more tire smoke.

If I was looking at the Lotus 7s, I would just build a Cobra replica.
I am really digging the mid engine arrangement. I bet all that weight in the back gives the little cars awesome traction.

Too much weight in the rear. 50/50 is what most would shoot for for the best handling car overall.

The Acura NSX have a 42/58 F/R weight distribution. It's considered to be one of the best handling cars in the world.

3 times the cost of the SL-R. I probably don't fit in either car :/

Well if you want mid-engine I would suggest a Factory Five GTM. Factory Five actually delivers their product, they have a great reputation, and you are really familiar with the powerplant it's built for.
The trans is a big hit, but the rest of it is pretty damned affordable.
David Borden over on CC.com did one that came out really sweet.

I e-mailed tornado sportscars to see if they were still making the Raptor (Lotus replica). Turns out they're so swamped with GT40 replica production orders that they won't be making the Raptor for at least 6 months.
It's good to hear that parts of the auto aftermarket are still doing well in this economy.
