I saw last night there was a thread showing some model car show event coverage, and one of the models was Hunkin's Laguna. I was really hoping to show him the photo, could you guys re-post it?

Slightly OT, but I was extremely disappointed with PHR's Laguna.

PHR has always been VERY supportive and focused towards the whole pro-touring thing. They've mentioned pro-touring.com and done features on member's cars like Bob Johnson's "G-Force" Cuda, and John Parson's Nova.

They teased us with these photos with the '9 cars you have to build' article they ran a few years back. I think this one was even on the cover:

But when it comes time to do an actual laguna project car, they give us a period correct 70's Nascar clone?

I know the guys on chevytalk are the biggest group of enthusiasts for this "forgotten generation" and Hunkins polled them a lot on what they wanted to see, but they're mostly resto guys.

I really wanted to see a balls out pro-touring G3 Chevelle, and I got let down hard core.

I mean they spent 3 Grand on paint supplies alone and didn't even spray the firewall. Nor do I think the paint job was worth 3 grand.

Miles - I think that was one of the threads that was gobbled up during the last server problem.

Thanks for your input Mathius,

Boyd, Larry told me that's what happened, I just wanted to see if the original poster could re-post the pics, I couldn't find them online.

What kit are those from? I own a '76 Malibu and I've had a hell of a time find anything that wasn't the Benny Parson all plastic kit.

It's a Model King kit that was out a few years ago.

Huh. Not sure if I've seen that one or not. I did come across another one a few months ago. That might be it.

Problem with these kits is the G3 was so unpopular that these kits are kinda rare and the prices are kind've ridiculous. I don't really want to pay $30 for a one-time use kit. Well I suppose you could strip the paint like any other vehicle.. but you see where I'm going?

I had thrown around the idea of casting another set from the original kits... technically illegal I believe but as with anything else as long as I don't sell them it's probably no big deal.

I also threw around the idea of finding someone to cast them in metal for me so I could do some mods, but that seems to strike me as something that's likely expensive. Plastic casting I could do on my own. Metal casting I know only a little bit about.

Thanks for the link tho.

I just showed Johnny the model and he is sooo excited, does anyone have any info on the event itself? A website or something? Where did the pictures come from?

I can probably track down some info for him. If he wants a real accurate version with interior in all tell him to give me a hollar. I can take care of him on that.

OK here's about all I was able to track done. It was displayed at a model show up in Canada. I don't have any info on the builder's name or anything. Not much more I could get. But again my offer still stands if he wants one with accurate interior and what not.

A bit late to reply to this but I'll do it anyway....

That model was build by a friend of mine who show me an article in PHR that display is model and ask me to find more about all that...

He did use the Model king Laguna kit but he didn't do the interior for a lack of time to enter the model at a model show in Gramby, Quebec, Canada where they had a special theme going on witch was do what you want with that particular kit. My friend had just saw the first article about the PHR Laguna and decided to replicated it.

I'm sure he'd like to get in touch with the actual owner of the car if he had a chance and he is really trill to see it in the Mag....

If anyone as some contact info to the guy, please contact me via PM and let me know...
