hey guys thought id start my build thread on my chevelle project that ive had for awhile now. i started this 4 1/2 years ago and i only got to work on it every once and awhile. i have built several other cars since i bought the chevelle but none of them have been my own. everyone always ask me when is it going to be done, or have ya got it painted yet. up untill recently i have been renting a small shop and doing side work out of it and have always been to busy to work on it. i have finished all my side projects except my friends 69 camaro (which is way away from being finished) and have decided to try and finish mine. i will post as many pics up as i can along the way. i set a goal of being driveable by august. the interior doesnt have to be done but atleast road worthy.

as far as the car goes it has a decent small block in it and a turbo 350. i would like to swap for a ls1 and 6 speed but i think i am going to get it painted and driving first. the rear is a 10 bolt with a 373 geared auburn posi. i bought the rushforth livewire 20x10 rear and 18x8 front for the wheels. i have a cpp tubular rear control arms and sway bar and a ssbc rear disc kit. the front is all stock disc for now untill i get a big brake swap and tubular front control arms and coilovers.

anyway here are some recent pics of some of the work and the wheels mocked up without tires

Wow. Very Nice Car. I like the wheels alot. There not to crazy looking, but get the job done saying the car means business... How much of a drop on those coils? What a difference.. Is the new one a much stiffer spring?

jilge71
08-02-2009, 04:19 PM
thanks guys! 89cobraysi the rears are a varishock coilover with 175# springs and now the front are hotchkis around 512# i think but if i have to do some cutting i would think it will be a slight bit higher.

i just got the front put on to end a long weekend and figured id better post pics and see what you guys think. i cant tell if the back needs to be a little lower or what but i like the front. lets see what you guys think.

oh and by the way the large crash area is from me being a dummy and hitting the alignment machine two weeks ago....doohhhh

what oil pan are you going to run or looking for?

jilge71
07-05-2010, 02:57 PM
moroso 20140 steel so i can drill a hole and weld fitting for the return line. i couldnt decide from all the pans even looking at the ctsv pan. i saw some people that couldnt use it and it still hung below the crossmember when it did work. i looked at all the pans and wanted to stay around 6" depth in the rear and still have plenty of oil for the engine and the turbo. if it doesnt work i guess ill try something else...lol
moroso is a 7 quart pan at 6" depth and my truck pan is almost 9" now so this should help alot.

Looking great!!

So can I ask, never really read but why is the name "Closure", just because it was held off for so long with other car build jobs? I really like the name reason why I am asking. I am having a hard time coming up with a name for mine and my wife said to name mine this but I saw yours.

How far are you from having the engine in and the front settled down? Can't wait to see the stance:cheers:

nick you hit the name on the head. i have built cars for other people and havnt ever done anything for myself. so i decided to stop and work on my car.i took forever finding a name and it just kinda fit because alot of my friends always ask whats taking so long, or your never going to finish it, and other things like that so thats when i decided to stop my side jobs and work on my car.

anyway the engine is in but the front should come down more but i think it was the way we pushed it out. is was sitting high for some reason.i still have alot of turbo plumbing and fuel sys plumbing to do. i also need to get interior and glass. my goal is for spring if my work stays as busy as it has been. still alot to buy and work to do but it has come a long way from when i got her.

good luck on naming your project!!!

Thanks.....keep up the hard work, it's all worth it in the end, specially if you pace yourself right so you get it done to have for the summer:cheers:

I finally got some work done on the car. Im wiring it up right now and my lee steering just came in. Hot side is all ceramic coated and back together. The paint has been sanded and recleared and buffed. Now its all going together. New dash upper pad and reused the lower with speed hut gps speedo and gauges( that should be in the mail tomorrow!) i have all the bumpers built, marker lamps and bezels, most of the seals. Still need some door glass parts and front and rear glass. Also need to find headliner bows before the glass goes in. Anyway i will post more pics as its getting done.5050450503505025050150500
