looking for any good stock type front disc kits for a 67 Mustang- something that has parts that are available at any parts store and will fit behind 14" wheels is preferred.
alternately, what are the easy junkyard swaps? i've heard about using Grenada spindles before, but what all is involved with that kind of swap?
i am a Chevy guy trying to round up info for a brake upgrade on a friend's car. it's just a 283/4 speed car and is primarily a cruiser- but he doesn't like the way the car stops in it's current 4 wheel manual drum configuration. he especially doesn't like it when his two kids are strapped in the back seat.

I think part of the reason that no one has responded are the desire to run a 14" wheel and be able to by parts at any local parts house. I dont know if you can run 14" rims on the grenada spindle swap. Check with Frank at Prodigy about a possible Wilwood kit(stil dont know about 14" wheel fitment). I'm sure someone will chime in here and give you some good info.
You could always go to a boneyard and find an old Mustang that had factory discs and get all of the parts that way. Might not be as powerful as what the current aftermarket can offer, but you would be able to buy replacement parts most anywhere.
Good luck.

thanks.. i do realize that 14" wheels aren't exactly all the rage around here, but i figure this site has a big reach and someone has to know something. i'm not even 100% sure, but maybe bigger wheels are something that can be done on this car if we can keep the entire thing under budget.
Wilwood and other aftermarket stuff is out of the question- easy parts availability down the road is a top priority, and i can't imagine what it would be like trying to get brake pads for a Wilwood caliper in a small town on a Sunday afternoon...
doing more research using different terms in google, i have been able to figure out that 67 spindles are all the same regardless of disc or drum or inline 6 or V8, and that there are a lot of places that sell complete kits to use that spindle, but that you are also supposed to switch the "suspension" when you put a V8 in it- but the car already has a 289 on the stock 6 cylinder parts and it rides and drives fine, so that's taken care of.
i've also learned that Grenada brakes are smaller- but i know from past experience that they came stock with 14" wheels.
again, any help is appreciated.
