That is just awesome.

Some other companies are now selling those 3d plastic printers for less than $5k (http://www.desktopfactory.com/), so it's only a matter of time before this stuff goes into widespread use.

Also pretty cool - A 3d scanner built using legos and milk.

Yes, legos and milk.

Here's the video and the instructions - http://www.instructables.com/id/Milkscanner-V1.0/

This stuff is so awesome.

Lawyers are going to love this technology when it gets into the hands of everyday joes. Can you say "patent infringement"?

Used one at my ID job, very cool! Made my life easy when transferring from models made in our shop, back into Alias and off to the prototype company.

If the scanner is only 3 K, that is a frigging bargin! Man that is cool stuff~

It is funny how they made fun of "Machinists" and how long it takes to copy and remake a part? They said the price was usually "high"

I guess a 3 thousand dollar scanner, 15,000+ in 3-d cam software to make the part from the scanners file and a 50,000+ cnc, you can knock the old machinist right out of the way?:Alchy:

Sorry, I do like it, but in the end a machinist is what it will take to make the part.

I learned with bench work, making parts with bandsaws and files? The apprenticeship crap was crazy, but I learned. Now, I can do it either way, CnC or ManuaL? I sometimes prefer to just go to the old bridgeport so I do not get the frigging computer headache.

WoW, I got way :offtopic:. Going to bed now!:)
