Well being a ASE mast tech, hot rodder, part time fabricator, prototyper.
I build cars on negative budgets, in driveways.
Going into this shop I really feel the service manager (who is from my home town) really feels the keep the tech alive, dont cut his throat to service a customer.
He believes a job cost X and charges X. Dont get me wrong I dont get the vibe of a bill padder, just makes it fair for both.
I am going to be in a shop with similar skill techs so no trying to teach or someone coming up as better than me by 50 yrs.
some say thinking of working there is bad but a job is what you make it, this job comes with a guaranteed minimum, so if no work I at least have a little to run on.

I live in southern Indiana if I can bring in $30k to $50k I can live great, build cars and have fun. Last year I barely survived on $17k and I am still reeling.
I dont have a huge house yet, just a trailer and hopefully I can build a decent garage to fix my stuff and do my side work, and prototyping.
I am still working on the Air Subframe for hbodies, The FlexFI and the bolt on DIS.
Do I hope to end up in my own business yep, will it happen tomorrow, probably not, but I certainly hope I can keep building what I have started now.
I had figured the Ford stuff would end up in management, but oh well as long as I can still take Ford certs I will. Never know where life will take me. OH and since I am in Bloomington I can simply hope in car or on bike, slide out right onto the interstate 37S and be in Bedford for my Soar tutoring in less than an hour so that's good too.

Thats great MonZa! I live about 10 minutes NortH of LouisvillE, in Greenville, IN. In the early 90's I did some serious PartyinG with my friendS up in Bloomington. It is a happening town for sure. But on the other hand, I graduated from Floyd CentraL High SchooL in 1991. In 1989 we had a runner up StatE Basketball TeaM and Damon Bailey was just a junior. PaT GraHm was a senior for us and Mr. Basketball that year. Then I believe the next year Damon was Mr. Basketball for Indiana. Both players went on to play for the Hoosiers if I remember correctly. That is back when the KinG still coached ! I know when I used to pass through BedforD there was a home of DamoN Bailey Billboard? Is it still there?

Anywho, it is a small world. I am 35 now, I think you are younger, I haven't checked? But I bet you still know who Damon was and maybe Pat as well. I do remember there was always HeaT when we went to PlaY BedforD in Basket Ball.

Best of LucK at your new JoB, NeighboR! Sounds like it will be a little different for you, and we all know, sometimes ChangE is the best thing about going somewhere NeW!:)

Yeah I f I remember I had started working in Bloomington in 87 and that was when Damon was doing good work.
Nope job wont be any different for me, I have been in tire shops and regualr shops and dealerships for last 20plus years
I am 41, i live just north of Loogootee, home of the all time winningest high school basketball coach William" Jack" Butcher. .
I live about 30 miles from Air Ride Technologies, and Bret is my cousin.
I have worked as far south as Oakland City and all the way to Indy.
When I get my bike back maybe we could meet for some bench racing. I am really hoping to get my Monza rolling this year.
