View Full Version : New Guy w/'84 Monte SS

Well, I finally signed up as a registered user to the site, I have enjoyed reading many great posts on the site, I figured I may as well join.
I have an '84 Monte SS that I bought years ago as a birthday gift to myself in 1986 (gulp), the car had 16K miles and I have put another 160K on top of that, and have enjoyed every bit of owning the car.
I finally pulled the old 305, which served it's purpose, but was tired and short a few ponies, and dropped in a new crate ZZ4 engine, along with a Bowtie Overdrives 2004R level 2 tranny.

The car is mostly stock appearance, and it will get a few more goodies, and a reduction in height, since the aluminum heads made it sit higher than it already was.
I am looking forward to helping in areas that I may, and learning from those more experienced.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I have been checking out some incredible builds on the site, and starting to get too many ideas, and the list keeps getting longer of mods to do/check into.

What serp belt set up is that?That is one available from GM performance Parts for the Gen I SBC chevy. it came complete with all accesories, but is available without AC as well.

Jegs has a few others listed for the LSx series engines now, also from GMPP. Over here junkyarding gets pricey, they are too proud of their stuff, so I just got all new, now everything under the hood has been replaced. The Monte came with 4 belts, and was a PITA to deal with, mostly standard sized nuts/bolts, sprinkled in with a few metric ones (PS, AC) to keep you guessing...LOL
