Local dealer has 2. Price quoted was 25,500. Almost 2.5X times the iron block version.

Me too..

That " Anniversary 427" is just a commemorative , numbered , collectible engine.
It's just something for a rich guy to spend money on , and to brag about and show off.( Because of the cost )
It's like , " Look at how much money I can throw away " .

But , you can buy the aluminum ZL1 block and other components and build an identical , "non-numbered" engine for $15,000.

Or hell , just buy a late style LS7 .
It's an aluminum 427 too !

Yeah, couldn't afford it anyway. I'm looking at the LS2/3/9 too. My car is pretty much a clean slate since I started with only a bare shell.

The LS7 , if you can justify the extra cost , has more cubic inches than the LS2/3/9 , for more easy HP.
And the rotating assembly is super strong and lightweight.
And the cylinder sleeves are deeper for better oil control.
