This afternoon I popped in to say hi to my friends at Thunder Valley Customs in White, GA (Cartersville area) and they had quite a wild 2nd gen Camaro build in the works for a local customer. I forget the guys name but the project is called Fool's Gold. Anyone here know of this build?

I didn't have a camera with me but it had a Lateral Dynamics Watts rear, DSE mini tubs and front subframe, 18" Forgelines, 14"/13" brakes and a custom built LS2 that was to power it all. It will have a full cage and probably see a good bit of track time.

These guys really do exceptional work and they've been doing it (quietly) for quite a few years. They don't advertise or frequent any forums, but they consistantly produce several top quality rides year after year. Even though it's all in primer right now, knowing how fast these guys knock out their projects, I'd expect to see it completed by early summer.

That's my car! Thanks for the compliments! We should have the rear end in place early next week and get it on the wheels for some update pics. I'm waiting on the machine shop to finish the torque plate hone and decking of my block and then I will have some engine build update photos. Once the car is on it's wheels it will be leaving Thunder Valley for the headers and exhaust to be fabbed after which it will be at my friend Sam Freeman's place. I grew up with Sam and he is a master when it comes to upholstery and custom interiors. He and I together will be mocking up and creating the rough interior and also I will be working out the wiring. After all of this I will blow it back apart and it will return to Thunder Valley for finish blocking and paint then back home for final assembly. There are a lot of small details and changes to the body you will have to look for as well as several on the inside that I'm keeping under wraps for now.

Brad, Shane and the guys at Thunder Valley are great to work with as well as knowledgable. If it were'nt for these guys I couldn't get this project done, or at least not for years doing all of it myself and it probably wouldn't turn out half as nice. This is the second project they have done the body and paint on for me and I wouldn't use anyone else. They are close enough I can get by a couple of times a week, They don't mind when I throw in and work on it there while they are also working the panels and things. The main thing is that they get just as excited about the car as the customer and really like to sit down with you once a week and toss ideas at you as well as listen to your ideas. We combine all of this to make changes as we go and create a killer finished product.

Marty's right about the fact that they stay kind of on the back burner and quite, operating mostly by word of mouth and refferals. They do killer work with numerous magazine feature cars and award winners. Great guys to work with and a laid back atmosphere.

P.S. We're shooting for completion by or just before September. Just in time for shades up in Pigeon Forge followed by RTTH for a debut. There's a lot of work to do before then though so wish all of us good luck on that completion date. Hey Marty is that your 68 they are getting ready to paint? Very solid car and should be sweet. Drop by there next week, some one is bringing in a Factory Five GT for paint prep!

Tommy -

No that's not my 68, but I saw it in the paint booth and it does look good. Brad and Shane had helped me complete a wild 69 a while back (it had a 638 big block with a T56 and was Prowler Orange), which I'd since sold. The 68 (white w/black stripes) I have now was completed a few years ago and they had also helped me with some final tweaks on it.

Next week Thunder Valley will be taking delivery on another wild project for paint work. An insane GTM with a blown LS motor puttin out about 1000 hp. There's a video on Youtube if you search for Heatco.

The GTM is a favorite of mine and I've talked to Brad and Shane several times about my interests in having them do one for me. Now that they'll have one in the shop, I'll be sure to go see it next week.

Tommy, I'm with you on these guys talents. They are THE place to go for paint and body if you're in or anywhere close to GA. All you have to do is look at the dozens of cars they've completed to have proof. Plus they don't drag out their projects, they know how important it is to the customer to get it in and out quickly, while having workmanship second to none.

Marty
