I will be picking up my LQ4 in a couple of weeks and I'm putting a list together of items needed for the conversion. I get the complete motor from Manifold to pan and I'm looking for a moderate HP level of around 450 horsepower. I will be running either Dougs or Edelbrock headers, Spectra Fuel tank and the Vette Filter/regulator. The parts that I'm getting mixed feelings about is the mounts and Oil pan. Initially I was planning on going with the BRP Mounts with the LH8 pan, but I am hearing conflicting stories on the use of the LH8 Pan. I have also read where someone has used a non-modified F-body pan with set back mounts and cleared the crossmember without notching, all this on an A-body of course or Should I go with 1" setback mounts and the f-body pan and will it work. Just trying to clear the air on which way to go. The car is lowered 1.5" so its not slammed. Also has anyone had any succes running the truck pulley system. I'm also running Unisteers R&P ssytem so I may have additional room where the steering box once was. And last I hear theres a flexplate spacer that's required for the earlier transmissions.

I used the stock F body pan and homemade mounts to move the engine back; I'm able to use the stock tranny crossmember but I had to notch the frame for the AC compressor with the stock F-body accessories. Not so sure how the truck pulleys will change all that.

Did you have to modify the F-body pan or is it stock and what did you pattern your mount plates after, stock location or set back. I noticed that some company's (trans-dapt,ATS..etc) that also offer 1" set back mounts as well as stock location. I came across Kwik performance at www.kwikperf.com that should alleviate any issues that I may run into with the truck pulley systems.

I did not modify the pan. On the mounts, I turned the GM frame mounts around so they were aimed towards the back of the car (had to drill a couple of new holes on each side) and the mounts are just 1/4" plate steel. My assumption would be that mine are definitely set back - I have less than one inch between the back of the heads and the firewall.

What about the CTS-V Pan? It's a little deeper, but the length across the bottom is about an inch shorter.

cts-v sure if you wanna move the engine back drill new holes and make it harder to get to back for trans bolts in the furture go for it. I would rather spend my $ on a product that works as designed. It seems to fit nice with my crossmember up front.

This engine comes with the truck pan and the CTS-V pan, so I will try the CTS pan.I know the Autokraft is a great pan as well as others, but Budget doesn't allow, plus I don't like having to relocate the filter. I can get 1" setback adapter brackets through my work for about $40. I'll either be running Edelbrock or Doug's headers, at least that's what I'm looking at so far.

Does your budget allow fixing the firewall when you have to service the transmission next time?

Autokraft oil pan does not require you to do a remote oil filter. it is built in just like the factory!!!! REcomm reviewing Andrew build.
