View Full Version : What happened to the guy with the MustangII?
There used to be a regular poster on here with a cool little MustangII that actually performed pretty well. Whatever happened to him? I haven't seen him or the car in forever.
Alcino was his name. His MustangII set the PHR slalom record back in 2006. Very cool little car. I wonder what happened to it and him?
While window shopping on ebay, I found a mint MustangII with less than 4k miles on it and it got me thinking about alcino's car and how cool it would be to build a similar version of it.

The last we saw of poor Alcino was at a track day at Willow Springs in June of 2006!!! We were dubbing that day a sort of Bachelor Party and having fun thrashing our cars.
He got hitched later that year and we haven't seen him since ...
Give us a yell if you're still alive, Alcino.
Cheers and we miss you,

That little Mustang II is unreal. The results of his work were like cramming 10lbs. of "stuff" into a 5lb. bag. Never in my life did I think that kind of road prowess could come from such an unlikely car.
If my Vega achieves half of the performance of Alcino's M II I'll be very happy.

Hey kenova shoot me an email at
[email protected], I am doing a 77 Monza and so far have been working on my suspension (partially air ride) no torque arm and and larger brakes and such.
I was wondering what power your looking at.
Me I am thinking FlexFI 283, all forged rotating assembly, and maybe turbos down the road. Still contemplating trans.
Still working on wheel spacing and tire sizes, trying for 17s.

A search for his name shows his last post a year ago. That's a neat car. Done low buck and it outperforms the fancy projects.
here's the link to his thread;

Ah hah. :lurk: The cat's out of the bag now Alcino, we know you're there lol.
Monza, I'm just running the 2.3 auto for now. The previous owner (a friend of mine) rebuilt the engine with iron sleeves. It only has about 2000 miles on the rebuild. The mighty beast purrs like a kitten on the highway, but when it comes to driving it, it is as exciting as watching paint dry.
My primary concern is some suspension and brake improvements. When that is out of the way I'll start thinking about a LS swap, preferably an aluminum 5.3.

I'm still alive. LOL. I guess I just been into other things lately: remodeling my house (don't do it yourself, it takes too long... like forever), and amateur bicycle racing. Both big time suckers.
After the magazine article euphoria died down, I felt a little lost on what to do. One of my life goals was to make my perfect car and have it grace the pages of my favorite magazine. The drive of years of constant researching(forums, books, etc), testing(trackdays, autoX), and fabricating kinda peetered out with the lack of time and budget. Though the car was far from perfect, the goal had been met nevertheless.
Don't worry, I still have the car and enjoy its performance driving to work when I don't bike. I also try to do a track day once a year(that might turn to two). The car remains unchanged since the photo shoot other than additional paint chips, scratches, bald tires and recently the custom rear fender you see in that photo got backed into and crushed. I can't decide if I want to leave it, fix it or replace both fenders flares to stock since I can just buy quarter panels and not mess with fiberglass headaches.
Stay in touch,
Alcino

Yeah, that whole do it yourself thing is big time sucker, but the cycling will do you more good than harm.
It's good to hear you still have and drive the car.

I sent him an Email, guess it worked! :)
Alcino, thanks for dropping by with the update. I'd fix the damaged side rather than do both back to stock, but that's me.
