so i need a motor and trans for mock up and i'm wondering if the 5.3 is the same externally as say a 454 lsx block?

I'm pretty sure the 5.3L block has the same external dimensions and mounting points... I have a 5.3 block bolted to an 02 Camaro T56 that I used for mock up...

It should work just fine for mock up.
