Do I need to pull the axles and press off the axle bearings to install the Wilwood brakes on my Ford 9"? The directions I have are not the best. These brakes do have the internal emergency brakes on them as well. I feel like I have read different ways of doing this: some with removing the axles and some with out.
I am new to brakes so bare with me as I will have a lot more brake questions to come!!!
Thanks, Erik

If it is a true Wilwood kit, no you do not have to press the bearing on and off. You will just pull the axles axles, slid the E brake backing plate over the axle, and put the axle back in. Then there is a retainer to hold the axles.
Fig 4 shows the U Style retainer in your kit

you can just pull your axles out, then install the plate with parking brake, then slide axles in, just before tey are all in put on the C clip and slide till the end.
BUT: before you do that, doublecheck if your disk fits the studs (knudle?) and axle. it might not fit (as with my 9 inch).

I just received my Wilwood setup today and hopefully will start the install this weekend.
I do regret to say that I didn't buy the Prodigy Customs kit and I am probably gonna regret it. Sorry Frank!!
I did get a complete kit from hotrodsusa.com and it was drop shipped from Wilwood as the packages say. But I do know I am already missing rear brake lines and such.
I will never learn!!!

make sure u adjust the e brakes up- they come backed all the way down- way easier to do before everything is together-Chris
