I love the music. Arcade Fire and Band Of Horses; two of my favorites.
Yes I will probably go and see that one. I didn't know Bana was into road racing classic iron, that's awesome. What car is that by the way? That's not the Mad Max car is it?

Looks great- Jay & Jeremy are two of my favorites...Dr. Phil, not so much. He'll probably write yet another book on the 'carguy' affliction.
It will be an emotional experience for some, but don't bet the farm that you'll get your woman to convert. Just be glad she's not out in the garage telling you "That's a T25, not a T20 you dork".

I remember reading about Eic Bana's car in HR.
I talked to a buddy from Australia. He has Mopars and was out on a cruise and guess who pulls up to the gas station they were at? Russel Crowe. He had this badazz car. They start looking at each others cars and when they were looking at Rusty's he couldn't tell'em squat about it.
I think it is extremely cool Bana races and knows something about cars.

I reworded my post. Since it came out on DVD on the 15th, it only took a few days for it to show up on one of the many online movie sites. You can actually watch the whole movie online, but I would like to buy a US version. I'd post a link here, but since it is illegal I am not going to contribute to your delinquency. Hell.. if i had the money he does.. I would have build the original car to how i like it.. then..
Built an EXACT REPLICA of it to destroy..
shoot if he is so deek hard about the car he wouldnt mind about 200,000 to build it..
because i know a LOT of us on here build bad ass rides for 100,000.

Just watched it last night. Really enjoyed it. It's not as good as "Dust to Glory" but I think it does a really excellent job of describing, particularly to someone who is not "a car guy" why an apparent inanimate object can be so meaningful to us. The bits with Clarkson, Leno and yes, even Dr. Phil really added to the film. That surprised me quite a bit.

Couldn't agree with you more. I too was surprised how their bits added to the whole thing. After the movie, I couldn't help feel sentimental. I hope there wasn't any "acting" in it, because I think we can all relate to those real feelings of attachment.

This orange car is a Holden 1972 HQ Monaro, you can get wagons , utilitys and sedans as well. Quite a few parts interchange with camaros. , which is an early model of what you call a gto pontiac i think? (2 door commodore here )
they were optioned with the 350 engine but most ran the aussie 253 or 308 cube .

try checking out the 68/69 holden monaros , they are the hot ticket item here. Also what we call a holden torana hatchback. All v8 rockets pulling big dollars here in Oz
P.s , an old but cool car movie here in Oz in 'RUNNING ON EMPTY' . plenty of chevs and aussie muscle. Old now but well worth a watch if available there.

Really? I assumed they were connected to the Chevelle. Interesting.

Really? I assumed they were connected to the Chevelle. Interesting.
That was my thought as well.
What I find interesting is the Chevy badge the car is wearing. I thought the owner must have done that himself, although looking into it further, there were a number of Monaro's badged as Chevy SS's.
Learn something new every day. First the Aussies wanted our US cars, now us US guys want the Aussies. :)

the ones wearing chev badges were export models to south africa. I dont think any of the aussie versions had factory chev badges. They had an 'SS' badge or a 'GTS' were the orange one has the bowtie.

Its a story that will hit home with any of us. However many of us have cash flow to add to the equation.
Jay Leno, Eric Banna and Jeremy Clarkson can afford to spend as much as it takes to rebuild to satisfy their emotional needs.
I too had my baby smashed twice once by another road user and once by a mad Ex-girlfriend. I'm sure many of you have similar stories.
This has served to strengthen my emotional connection to that hunk of metal and plastic and pour a higher ratio of my dispensable income into getting the project where I want it.
Far higher in proportion than any of the afore mentioned millionaires.
Face it they are making even more cash from that same phenomena that drives us all to modify, polish, hone our ageing hunks of steel!!!!

Glad folks got to watch it. I'm a huge fan of that movie and that movie made me a fan of Bana, enough so that I'm saving my pennies (literally, only my pocket change) to buy a copy to own. What gets me about that movie is that it works on so many levels, but is particularly (for me at least) a parable.

Great movie.
It's funny how I feel the same way about my '69 Camaro.
Dr. Phil hits the psychoanalysis on the head..
I also love the track time and time trials , ( being all by myself and just getting into the groove and rhythm on the track )
It's just very fullfilling.
And something I'm obsessed with..
So , I could really relate to that aspect of the movie..

Watched it last night via the on-line link (thanks for that)....great show. I also owned 4 of these big Ford coupes (and no, they aren't a Torino in disquise, lol) being smitten with them in the 70's....loved them. I'd still own one except it'd compete with the Firebirds...can't have that, lol.

heres my car at a national Streetmachine event in the late 80's...parked next to Eric Bana's XB coupe. No one knew the guy back then, but I checked the licence plate and its the same one as on pics of his car from that period....my big brush with international stardom, lol. Both our coupes made it onto a cover picture for a national magazine as well, which made that a special show for me.

I can relate to his story as I have owned my challenger since 1981. Mine has gone through many variations as well. My wife just doesn't get the attachment to the car. Mine also sat for years without doing anything to it or withit and she kept saying why don't you sell it. I keep telling her I have had it longer than her so no It IS NOT GOING TO BE SOLD. She no longer ask me to sell it as my kids now want it.

Finally got to watch it. Great movie. Some people talking about how much $ he has I think is irrelevant. I'm willing to bet he didn't have money when he got it and for him to keep it when he could afford anything else he wants shows it is not about money, but emotional attachment to the car and what it meant to him and his friends. The story reminded me of my teen years hanging out working on different friend's cars.
