I replaced a pressure line to the power steering pump on my 67 Camaro and then the belt started squealing bad like the belt was too tight. Loosened the belt and the it stopped making noise but the pump started making a chattering noise. I ordered a new pump thinking the pump may be bad, got the pump in and still have a squealing belt. The pulley is offset from the crank pulley by a hair, but it has always been like that. Maybe the wrong type of belt? I'm at a loss with this one.

All it takes is a little PS fluid to get on the belt or pulleys and you can have a slipping belt.

The thing to do is replace the belt, but first clean the pulleys with brake clean spray or something similar. Watch out, carb cleaner can remove paint.

Think it was ISKY that had a product called Gaskacinch that doubled as a belt dressing

Fixed. I just got a new belt. The first belt I got went all the way around the crank pulley, fan pulley, and power steering pulley. The correct belt just goes straight from the crank pulley to the power steering pulley. Sometimes just having a different guy at the parts counter can make all the difference in the world.
