Announcing Project Re-Peeled:
Brought to you by D & Z Customs

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/02/3303416671_9684100165-1.jpg

After much success with our ’66 Chevelle, we decided to up the anty with the rebirth of an older project car and bring it up to date. Project Orange Peeler was a project car that we built in 1998 and was Featured in Car Craft Magazine of that same year. After selling the car, I found myself in a world of regret. After 7 years the car was again available. After buying it back the intent was just to keep as it was and remember those days. But a turn of events came up after talking with Marc Prince, new owner of Heidts Hot Rods and Muscle Cars, at the Second Peak Chicagoland Nationals Good Guys show in Joliet Il, the Project “Re-Peeled” was born. In a partnership with Marc, the project will be running a Heidts subframe and suspension, subframe connectors and the prototype Super Ride IRS that will be available through Heidts as a complete bolt in kit for 2nd Gen F bodies. The motor will be a stout 6.0 L LS (LQ4) based motor with custom cam from Crane Cams and will incorporate a new supercharger from Vortech. Behind that will be a T-56 6-speed transmission. This car will also be using a new cooling system from BeCool. The rolling stock are 18” Forgelines FS 3P wrapped in Nitto’s new NT-05’s. To stop the meats will be using the Wilwood 6 piston brakes in front and Wilwood 4 pistons in the rear. The interior will be caged and a simple functional interior will be represented by Autometer Gages, Hurst Shifter, Ididt column, Grant Steering wheel and Cerullo seats. This is inteded to be driven for the 2009 Power tour so Vintage Air will be keeping the cabin cool. Other that Power Tour, we are planning to bring this car out to many events this year and thrash on it on the Auto-X. Some of the events planned so far are Good Guys in Columbus, Joliet, Hot Rod Power Tour, and Car Craft Nationals. Thanks to all of our sponsers for all their help to make this project possible.

The rear is from Heidts Hot Rods & Muscle cars. I worked with the engineers & developed a bolt in bracket system.

Can you give more details on the wilwood setup? It looks like it mounts "around" the steering column. I would be interested in something like this for my Chevelle.
Did you smooth the firewall?
Any other mods needed for them?
What part number was used?

Thanks...

The firewall does need to be modified to use this assembly, it is also very close around the column. I can't garranty that it will fit around all models. I am also using an Ididit column without an ignition switch in it, so the column has no extra pieces sticking off at any point.

The pedal assembly part # 340-3950
master cylinder part # 260-10372 for 3/4in. bore
master cylinder part # 260-10374 for 7/8 in. bore
master cylinder part # 260-10375 for 1 in. bore
I hope this helps let me know if I can help in any way.

Wow! That things gonna be awesum! As a second -gen owner Im watching this build like a hawk. Im really interested in the Heidts independent rear assembly. That should make that Camaro handle like a slot car! Looks like that this is going to be a really trendsetting build for second-gen Camaros. Keep us posted with plenty of pics and info. Time for me to go my wife says my eyes have glazed over and Im drooling, its scaring the dogs.

The Forgelines and Nittos finally get to hit the ground. That's right PT fans, it's officially a roller.

Awesome work! I love the look of the Forgelines

Off topic, but what kind of camera equipment do you shoot with? I rarely see anyone post (what appear to be) tripod-mounted properly exposed shots of work being done on a car; those were awesome to browse through! It's cool to see the light trails coming off the sparks from the longer exposure times.

Many of the shots I took for Randy. I can't always get out there so he shoots some. I have a Canon 5D Mark II. This is the camera I primarily use for the shoots.

Hi all,
It's been a while since I've posted pictures of our 70 Camaro.
There have been many changes from last year.
We made the car look more aggressive with a killer set of Forgeline's CF3C Concave wheels with centerlock conversion. It was a night & day transformation just by changing the wheels!

I never would have guessed that you would win anything for "style"....you missed your parade in Chicago yesterday.

The car is ten billion times better with those wheels.....love 'em.

We have recently installed Ridetech triple adjustable coil over on Re-Peeled.
I have to say , Wow what a difference on how the car performed at the Optima Batteries Face Off At Road America! We finished the event in 5th place overall! The car felt very solid & instilled more confidence.:D
