I found a pretty good deal on a 57 chevy bel air when i was looking for a pro-touring project car. i have started looking for parts but havent been able to find too much as of yet. so i was wondering if anyone know a good place to look for brake, suspention and LS swap parts (i have looked at S&P alittle already).

and preferable for brakes something like a retrofitted corvette package, something i could just go down to the local parts store to pick up rotors and pads for.

thanks

Shawn

Shawn, take a look at the stuff from Hot Rod Jim's. Ask for Russell, he's also a member here. "rat_rod_russell" is his screenname here.

Like some one was calling my name. Something like this.

So you can do something like this

This one was my DD until about a week ago. Sig tells all, 8,000.00 miles in the middle of the winter with front windows that didn't roll up. Nobody mods, all standard corvette parts with only a few exceptions. And I just ordered a new TIG this morning to make our frames and stuff just that much nicer. Plus we're going to be dropping prices real soon too.

How Serious do you want to get? :smoke:

heres what the ad said and what the guy said when i emailed him:
A must see ,Needs finishing, very solid No Rot anywhere.Blue flame 6 cyl. 3speed standard.Firm on price unless you have some sort of other muscle car for trade of same value.

Needs glass tracks, Rear glass,Master cyl rebuit or repaced, Rad, Inner door latches,Inner fenders. this one will need some things.

he's asking 4000 (canadian) for it, what do you guy think? worth it? and would i be able to have fun without putting a ton of money into it?

That not too bad for a sports coupe as long as he's got the side trim.

What I tell guys about one of our chassis is this
Frame kit
5000.00
Corvette suspension front and rear with Dana 36 rearend
1000.00
QA1 Coil over shocks and springs
1000.00

Now you've lowered the car 5 and 6 inches front and rear,
you have power rack and pinion, all wheel disk brakes, posi rear diff, and your 200-300 pounds lighter in the chassis thanks to all that aluminum. The frame is unquestionably stronger and you can fit larger tires front and rear without modifying the body. I run 275's on all 4 corners and all I did was roll the outer fenders in the center so the tire wouldn't rub during a hard turn. Do the work yourself and save a ton, but also not break the bank

Here's my dad's project 2D Hardtop, Project Meteor
Sitting at ride height but the front was up a little high in this picture because the wrong ride height strut was on the front. It sitting on 4 18"X10" C5 corvette wheels with 275/40/R18 tires on them.

I love 4dr. Hardtops! Do it.

P.S. I saw Rat Rod Russell's '57 in Houston. They have some nice hardware!
