:hmm:Hello,
Has anyone installed and tested Speedtech's Torque arm suspension. I have a 68 firebird and I am seriously considering either the torque arm or 4 link suspension. Does anyone know if speedtech's #TARS12KIT 12 Bolt Complete and Assembled comes complete with differential, thirdmember, and axles with housing. If anyone has actually installed this unit, was it easy to install, is there alot of welding required, and how does it handle? What size tires can you use? Is a torque are suspension better that 4-link?

Has anyone installed and tested Speedtech's Torque arm suspension. I think only Speedtech has right now, we are waiting on one of the first kits soon as they release the production version

Or weld your own brackets

Again, the jury is still out. Torque Arm better then a 4 link? For what? Blake (Speedtech owner) tells me the car handles extremely well. I cannot wait to try one.

I own a couple torque arm factory cars and they work well. They ride good and handle good. I am a drag racer in my soul. Only concern I have with the torque arm is multi use, drag and handling. It is my experiance Torque arms do both drag and handle very well, but not at the same time. Making a torque arm drag race, ruins the handling, and vice versa. If your not a drag racer, I am sure it will handle.

Liike I said, I am ready to install ours soon as it gets here.

Hey Frank,
I spoke to you over the phone last week regarding DSE mini tub kit with 3 in drop springs...after you mentioned 4 link suspension I did some research and came up on speedtech's website...it's a nice set up...You were going to call me back with a shop recommendation nearby my location, but you had the references at home. Please PM me at your earliest convenience with references, I just might go with torque arm suspension..I will not drag the car...and hopefully it is production...I think they were taking preorders back in december..by the way will gpsuperstore have same discount for speedtech's suspension whenever it becomes available..NOTE: I live in Long Island, NY (for shop recommendation)

Thanks

If all the sub contractors get there parts done we will be shipping the ones that have already sold later this week or next week. we had to make some minor changes for the X body cars.

yes you can buy it complete with a 12 bolt or 9" ready to install the suspension kit is 1999.00 if you want the housing with the brackets factory welded on +710.00 and then you can make it a full factory assembled rear 9" comes with a strange S case aluminum pinion support 1350 yoke 31 spline axles and an auburn posi any gear ratio and any width +2795.00 12 bolt is +2900.00 this is with the brackets welded on.
we have made some design changes to accomidate more modles,

as for installation it should take a first timer about 2 days including welding the brackets, there is probably 30 to 45 mins of welding that is after you have done all the measuring for the rear end brackets, if you were to order the complete rear there would be less that 10 mins of welding the shock mount X member to the frame rails. you can fit a 345 x 20 on a 12" rim with a mini tub and there is room for more.

is a torque arm better than a 4 link??? that is like asking if Ford is better than Dodge?? they both work very well. the install of our torque arm is 90% bolt in it has adjustment for instant center, roll center, ride height, pinion angle, wheel base adjustment, and thrust angle.

the test car is wicked so far, we have more test time scheduled this spring and as soon a Frank gets his and all the others we will have lots of reports.

My wife just purchased this one, it's identical to my Snap-on version except it has no reverse on the ratchet, must be the same MFR that makes the Snap-On torque wrench. Delivery was super speedy to california.

Frank from Prodigy customs was very helpful and experienced in all rear suspension set ups. He offered me a deal for ther rear end but I could not take him up on it at the time. If you have any questions you should email him- again he is helpful and experienced. I also have not seen any postings on speedtech's torque arm suspension already installed and tested...gonna keep looking though..

please email me for pictures etc.

The feel is tremendous, 3 link geometry, incredible traction and predictability when driving on the edge.

I wish I could provide some torque arm feedback but Jake still has my car. He won't give it back. Keeps muttering something about wanting an automatic to shorten his lap times.

Naw. We have a simple math problem here in NY. Three cars for the Motor State Challenge and only two trailer slots. Jake has generously offered to schlepp my car to Michigan and back. So my car's done--torque arm and all, but I haven't driven it. I'll keep my mouth shut on feedback until I do.

In the meantime, I can only watch videos like everyone else. I keep watching the following video over and over again. And there tons more videos HERE (http://www.youtube.com/user/68protouring454) to corroborate a lengthy R&D process.

Watch the hands while listening to throttle application! Very smooth. Torque arms work.
