Hello, I'm newbie here....quick question? ..I just got my bird 2 months ago...I have already taken apart front end (fenders, inner fenders, bumber, subframe, etc)...I have just painted subframe with POR15 and in the middle of installing front end suspension (Speedtech upper, lower control arms, QA1 coil overs, Wilwood brakes, ets) My question is should I have the car painted before I install front end suspension and new engine ...I don't want any overspray on new suspension and subframe and engine..or is it safe to install all components and then have the car custom painted? Any advice would help

Paint the car 1st
Then do the install of all other components, they will be cleaner an the attention to detail will show.
You will be happier with the end results.
well at least i am.
Just my 2 cents.
Hope it helps

I would think if you install it back on your car and install the wheels so you can roll it to the paint shop that would be much easier. Unless you are doing there at your place. Then I would leave it off and mask it off with plastic. Just make sure you make it tight.
Good luck
Show us the pictures when your done.

I assemble everything first to make sure it all fits well. I have found that there is always modifications that need to be done along the way.
Get everything together (suspension, engine, cooling system, controls, drive line, exhaust, sheet metal, bumpers, mouldings, etc) and do all necessary modifications that need to be done to make it all work. About the only thing I don't do is the wiring.
Then pull it all apart down to nothing and paint it.
