Went to the auto show yesterday, and my wife and I played a game...who makes it?

Basically, you look at a car from a distance and try to identify what makes it unique. Sadly, every car out there is starting to blend into a sea of blandness. It looks like all of the car manufactures (American, Japanese, Korean, German, etc) are all following the same line of "the nail that sticks out the farthest gets hit first."

It is PATHETIC! Chryslers looking like Toyotas looking like Kias looking like Chevy's looking like Mercedes looking like CRAP! Even one of the Ferrari's looked pretty weak and non-ferrari.

So, from a distance, what did we identify as unique?

Saturn Sky
Dodge Ram
Jeep Wrangler
Lamborghini
Aston Martin
Chevy Camaro
Chevy Corvette
Ford SVT F150
Mercedes AMG
Chrysler 300
Hummer line

um...thats about it. These vehicles stand out above and seperate from the rest. The rest literally look just like everything elese out there. And when did every single sedan out there start making the "waterfall dash"??? Every single one of them had it!

Ford had a good thing with the new Mustang, and then they sqeezed the nose and pulled the butt out. It now looks like a cool mustang with a stuffed up nose and a fat a$$.

Stupidity=Auto industry at the Auto Show

Lets NOT put the cool stuff up on the caroselle, lets put the most plain thing we can think of.

The cars people want to see and talk about? Nah...don't even bring 'em. The VOLT was MIA.

People are here to potentially buy the car--lets not support them in any way.

An actual conversation with a GM representative as we were sitting in a RedLine Sky:
"Can I pop the hood?"
"No."
"Really? Can you pop the hood so I can look? I won't even touch it..I just want to look"
"No, sorry but its bolted down. Sorry, but there is no way to pop the hood."
"Really?" I pop the hood. "So how did I do that?"
"Hmm..." He closes the hood. "please don't do that."

The problem with the auto industry is the government won't stay out of thier business. All the new front ends on cars are due to a government requirement (something to due with auto/pedestrian accidents). Look at all the new cars 2008 & 2009 then look back to 2004 & 2005. The older models had more pointed aerodynamic front ends, newer models have front ends more square. How does that affect aero and fuel mileage? How many times have you had an accident with a pedestrian?

Our government is f-ing up the auto industry.

Is this real? LOL that's great stuff there. Pure comedy gold I think.

You are correct though. People knock Hyundia because they obviously copy other companies designs. however, everyone is doing it. Cadillac did not when they went the opposite direction of Ford's oval everything. It was quite the breath of fresh air. I'm not sure if it's a matter of coping other companies as much as it may just be trends like the fin movement in the 50's early 60s.
