I am looking at going with a Covan's dash for my TA and was wondering if there was an electric speedo had a huge advantage over a mechanical?

I am going with Autometer's and like the Z series best at this time but have not made a final choice and an electric speedo is not an option.

While we are talking gauges, why do vaccuum gauges rotate counterclockwise? This seems real backwards to me.

vacuum gauges are nothing more than pressure gauges. when there is vacuum the gauge rotates CCW b/c there is less pressure. Under boost or acceleration the gauge rotates CW b/c there is less vacuum in the engine.

the only benfit I see in electrical speedo is possibly a more accurate reading and teh benefit (for some manufs) to calibrate them easily. If you have VSS in your tranny good, but if you are running a cable to an electrical speedo, why bother. Redline gauges will convert your stock T/A speedo to elec if you are interested. 250-3 for speedo and about 500 for tach and speedo.
