Unfortunately, the Buicks all seem to be different, and it also depends on how low your car is. There are several people running 275's and 285's on the rear with no mods. I have 275/40R17's on 17 X 10's with 4.75" B.S. and I have rubbing issues on the outer lip. I will need to roll them. My car is lowered.
I would suggest mounting the wheels and getting out the tape measure to see how much room you have.
I would think you would be OK with a 275 on the rear. Most people run 245's on the front with only minor rubbing issues with the wheel at full lock. I had that same problem with my old 16" wheels too. You just have to be careful pulling into driveways and parking lots.:)

mine will also be lowered hopefully .5 less on the rear wheel will compensate using 275 tires

What year GN? On the last 87 we did, we put 8s on the front, and 9s on the back with a 245 front tire, and 275 rear.

I bought a set of Chip Foose 17x8 and 17x9 and a 275 on the rear from Drivzinc for 79 malibu which is real close to your GN. These guys are really good. Perfect fit.
Good luck.

You should be perfect with that backspacing. 275 or 285s on the back no problems. I was having some rubbing on the front with 245s so I dropped down to a 235 -- but my rims are 8.5s with 4.32 inch backspacing versus 4.5.
Check out Vredestein Sessenta tires.

Thanks for all the replies.I am going to go with 275-45-18 on rears and 245-45-18 on the frt. Anywhere i can get a good deal on this size tires.

I think a 275/45R18 might be too tall for the GN. You might want to check a 275/40R18. Chech with the dealers to see what they think. Tirerack.com has a good site to plug in sizes and see what's available and also get the specs on the tires. :)
