I am moving my new project to this forum since it is now underway. I'll get some progress pics ASAP.

I continue to be impressed by this Camaro. I removed the interior, door glass and trim, spoiler and grilles today. This car is truely untouched other than a very old repair I found. It looks like it may have even been a factory repair or pre-delivery repair. It appears the RH door skin was replaced and the RH quarter has a small repair area right behind the door. The car shows no signs of a repaint or mask lines anywhere. The door skin was sprayed the same as the rest of the car. I know from experience that sometimes vehicles sustain damage at the factory or prior to delivery. These types of repairs are more common than people think. This car showed no evidence of a respray anywhere.

When I removed the carpet, the underlayment was clean as are the floors underneath. This car even still had the additional factory heat insulation underneath the underlayment and it is as nice as the day it was put in.

I love discovering the history of the cars I disassemble. This one is coming apart with simple hand tools and very little effort. I wish they all were this easy.

I agree Todd. These second gen cars have kind of been hiding in the background so to speak. The popularity of the first gen cars has saved so many of them from the crusher. How many second gen cars have been saved? The Camaro I came upon here is rare in that it's not all rotted away and appears to have been sitting in a garage for a long time. Heck, the doors open and close with one finger. When was the last time you saw a 30 yr old car not have worn out hinges? I got lucky. I also think that these second gen cars are the up-and-comers since they are affordable to start and most of the parts are available. We've all seen the prices for rusty 1st gen cars skyrocket. These second gen cars may never acheive the status of the 1st geners, but will certainly be a close second.

My significant other has recently expressed her interest in having a second gen. I'd love to see more updates as this progresses since this will most likely be my next project.

You're right, it was on ebay. I was the only bidder at $2500.00. Pretty good deal now that I know the car is as solid as it is. I suspect no one else bid because of the color.
