I'm sure no one probably remembers my first post back in January of '07. I've lurked on here for a while and lately have been posting, so I might as well give an update on my car...

I bought this first gen Camaro off of the original owner in Sept 06 that has been sitting in a garage since 1979, 102k original miles, 327, powerglide, ash gold (faded to green), gold interior, only thing really touched on it is a new radiator and cam put just before they parked it. Some cool options are a floor mounted clock and folding rear seat.

For a while I considered keeping it all original and just keeping it like that or build it up like the Wheel 2 Wheel Nova.

Well since then, I decided to put a Z hood on it, paint it blue w/ a black front stripe backwards, vinyl dye the interior black, dynamat the floor/doors/package tray, and started the American Autowire kit.

I'm not going to lie, I debated selling it at one point but thankfully I came to my senses.

Oh, really sharp! I love the blue Camaros! :twothumbs

Got anymore shots of the Dynamat install? Thinking of doing that myself as well.

Wow does the interior look that good in person? It's just the gold stuff dyed black?

I think I have more on my external hard drive, but here is what I got right now:

It looks pretty good IMO. You can tell if you look really close, but with the new carpet, headliner, door handles, seat backs, etc... its not too noticable. I think it helps that the original interior was in pretty good shape to begin with.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The color is Mulsanne Blue. Its a 71 Chevelle (others?) color. Had it on my Chevelle, sold it, and had to paint my next project the same.

I had a roller from Lowe's for vinyl flooring. It was more of a medium hard rubber one. I wish I would have gotten the wooden one from from Dynamat, it would have been easier to push down with. I would recommend setting it in the sun to heat it up before putting it down. When I needed to make a template, I would use the backing from one of the sheets I already used.

I think I might have went a little overboard on the doors. One of the guys at my work who is into audio said I didn't need to cover the whole thing. I was using it to replace the water shielding though.

Wow Awesome job! Which Dye did you use on the interior? It looks great. I really like the exterior color too.

I will have to see if I have any cans left, but I got it at Meijer. They have two blacks, gloss and matte. This is the matte finish.

Cool. I'm changing the chocolate brown in my elCamino to black- does this stuff work on urethane foam used for modern dash pads

I would guess that it works, isn't that what most of the import guys are doing? I'd try it out on a sample, maybe a small piece from the junkyard or something first.

I wanna try some of that dye.
What did you say the brand name of the dye is, and where can we buy some?
Thanks!
Your interior looks incredible!

Dupli-Color Flat Black (hvp106). Double check the back of the can, not just the cap. I've seen some mixed up before.
