I really dont think i can afford big wheels and tires anytime soon with all thats going on with my car right now. Im in the middle of building a $4,500 motor i can barely, barely afford. I have nicely painted gloss black rallys right now but with no rings or caps. I could put rings and caps on maybe but Id kinda like to ditch my rallys. What are some wheels that will look better then rallys for under 800 bucks? Heres what im thinking.
A.black trans am GTA wheels.
B.15 inch torque thrust d's for that trans am look.
thats all i got so far. or i could just put rings on caps on. i dont know. if i did 15's i already have tires for them. and 16's are dirt cheap.

Im pretty much looking to do wheels and tires for under $1000. Im a very broke guy. Im sure in the end ill end up keeping my rallys on untill i can save up for my fikses i love. But if there is something cheap enough we'll see.

Used C5 wheels and tires (check Craigs list there are a lot of takeoffs) and spacers would be well under $1,000.

I started off with a new set of ZR1 wheels and the fronts didint work. they were the f body backspacing and i had a 2 inch spacer.

I run C5 wheels on my '68 - 2" spacers rear, 1.875" spacers front. I think the wheels you got were too wide. You need the 8.5" x 17" fronts and the 9.5" x 18" rears.

Hey wasnt that car in a magazine a while back? I saw that car and wanted to know more about it. Very sweet car.
anyways. i always felt weird about adapters. although ive never ran them. Im assuming you have never had any problems with them? and my front wheel hit the steering arm and upper control arm. Do your wheels clear with plenty or atleast enough room to steer from lock to lock? and are the c5 zo6 wheels the same size and back space?

The car was on the cover of the January 2007 issue of CHP with a nice 4th gen, a 40th-anniverary-of-the-Camaro issue.
ZO6 wheels are too wide - the fronts are 9.5" x 17" and the rears are 10.5" x 18". I plan on running them on my current mini-tubbed '68 project car, but they'd never fit either end of a stock Camaro.
I've put 27,000 miles on my car with the adapters, so I feel pretty good with them. I suspect that a lot of your issue was the size of the wheels you were trying to use. I've had no issues with the wheels, 1.875" spacers, stock spindles and a 3rd gen IROC box. In a fast turn where the wheels are already loaded, there's a little rub if you hit a bump, but that's likely as much the caster I run as anything else.

my car is tubbed so i can fit the 10.5's no problem. and the replica wheels come in a 17x8.5. would these work?

and do you re-torque your adapters frequently or is it not neccesary?

One of those offsets (IIRC) isn't stock, so you might need different adapters, but they'd work fine. However, plan on spending $600 plus to put decent tires on them. I'd REALLY try to find a set of takeoffs.
No, I don't retorque the adapters.

the thing is, if i did vette wheels id want to do the zo6 wheels. And the stock zo6 wheels are 9.5 in the front right? So i think i need to get the knock offs. I dont wanna get them and have them not fit though. been there, done that.

I got a set of closeout 18" wheels from Discount Tire for under $400 to my door. Not exactly what I would have picked if I had a grand to spend but they will do.

How bout some OE wheels? back in the late 80's I put 4 16x8 rear Iroc wheels on a 70 R/S the fronts IIRC needed some minor spacing and I painted them body color too - early P/T car with T/A sway bars and gear box. The GTA rear wheels could also be done and painted centers. the fronts would stick out too far so all wheels were rear position.and I was running P255/50zr16 gatorbacks for spacers i used the rear spacers off the IROC too
