Well this is my Dads mini, we have been working on the car for a straight 5 years changing things here and there. Modifying a lot of the car with modern parts. Just took a run up to the shop that is doing the paint and body work and its looking great. Paint should be done next week and we begin to put it back together with all NEW interior and everything. The car also has "dont laugh" 1300cc seven enterprises race engine that alone was $7,000 and if you saw this motor in person it is SUPER small. The car has the trick suspension and no expense was spared. My dad has taken this car really to the next level.

Very cool. My father had one until my mom got pregnant with my little sister then they traded up to a Rambler. FAIL!
What sort of paint scheme are you going to run?

It will look similar to this, but the paint we are using is much more rich in colors because at night the color with light looks almost a purple at different angles. But the same paint scheme minus the side stripes and hood stripes. wheels are almost the same and we have fender flares as well.

I love old minis. There's a Cooper S right hand drive with canvas top for sale by me right now.
I can't believe how fast they are at the vintage races.
I'll be watching your build.
Thanks for posting.

Its funny everyone underestimates them when in fact they are so quick because a race weight mini only weighs about 1300lbs. ours will be right around there probably 1300lbs. and with this motor it has about 130-140hp, may not seem much but the car really does move! Not only are they quick, they handle like go-karts ob the road and track

You could do it up like the SCCA Prod guys do and make it mid-engined with big flares.

My cousin gave me one when I was a teenager. Made me mad when I couldn't bring it in from canada. (to young to even try) I've have a soft spot for them.

Actually the trick thing they do in Europe is put hyabusa or R1 motors in the cars with customs transmission linkage. I have a miniworld magazine with a mini that has a Yamaha r1 engine and does 0-60 in 3 seconds!

Nice build. My DD is a 2003 Cooper. I know, not the 'real' thing, but nice enough for nostalgia :) I'll be watching.

That's hot!!
I ran across a link the other week where you can get a new shell. Finding a donor, doing a body swap and that kit could be one hell of a 20K car.

looks real good so when you going to pull an italian job ;-)
I really dig the color, looking good!!!
With any car, the purists would hate. But I Always liked this kit. Not a hint of cheese in the design.

Minis are cool .
They're cute too .
I'd have one in a minute.
Bad ass project. I'd love to have a Mini. You seen the rear drive conversion Mini. I saw one with a Honda VTec and a Busa motor, very sick especially going sideways in one.
Sick project, keep us posted.
