My big-ass trailer road trip to Atlanta is over. II Much just spent its first nights away from home. I took it to Road Killer Kustoms near Atlanta, GA for paint. The drive is just about 12 hours. I made it to Road Killer about 12:30 (only made one wrong turn ... back to that in a minute) Sunday afternoon.
I met David Sloan, Marty, and Keith (the actual painter). They are working out of David's shop in his back yard. After seeing it, I recommend everybody have an 8 bay garage/shop in their backyard. You can really get some good work done that way. But that's not all. They also have a separate down draft paint booth. I was very impressed.
I saw David's ex 69 Camaro (now his wife's) and Marty's 68 Camaro (the one with a 638 BBC in it). Gorgeous cars, and most importantly for me, they had beautiful paint jobs.
Just as impressive was the way they do business. We worked up a contract, signed it, and I left a deposit. I'll receive a detailed weekly invoice, plus photos as the work is completed. I'll drop in and check on the car the first week of April, and they are working to a May completion date. Keith (the painter) has had two cars that he painted nominated for Riddler awards.
Back to the wrong turn. Somehow I found myself on a gravel road surrounded by houses that all had "Beware of Dog" signs on their mailboxes. Then I managed to execute a K-turn with the 24 ft trailer (think of your truck only 3 times as long), and got out of there. I heard the faint strains of dueling banjos just as I was rolling again.
Now I have to pick a color.
