I don't dig the paint scheme at all but I'm sure glad to have it see the light of day.

I'm with DT.. the '80s called on that one. But the car is killer, and I'm glad to see it pacing Daytona. Hopefully there's a Pace Car version that all the NASCAR fans will rush out to buy... that would be great for Chevrolet.

The pattern looks like one of Mark Martin's old Valvoline paint schemes but in gray/orange instead of red/white/blue.

shoulda done a '69 pace car tribute, seeing as it is 40 years and all... would have been a great marketing tool. Not a fan of that paint job.

We were there for the Bud Shootout and did not see this car. The black car next to it was sharp looking. I am not a fan of the Daytona , unless it's a 69.

Only my opinion, but I think they dropped the ball, big time, on the paint design on this one. What a great oppurtunity to make the Camaro shine and they blew it. Looks like it was a last minute thought and chose a paint theme off one of those cheap 50 cent fake match box cars at the Wal-mart check out counter. :( Any one of the Sema Camaros is ten times better looking than that. I usually try not to beat up on someone but this is a corporation and not and individual (lot more shoulders to bear the weight) I'm a big Camaro fan in my meak own way and I can't get over the looks of that, not flattering to any of the cars attributes. I think it was the vette, maybe last year? Sic!!!!! This one, Sick, as in gag!!!!! I'm thinking we wont see nearly as many Tribute Pace cars with this one as compared to the 69 Indy Pace car. I'm not saying I could do better but, come on people, your trying to sell another flagship and bolster up a dying corporation, you have a couple days left, I know you can do better. Rant Over

It could be they are "saving" the 69 white/orange scheme for the Indy 500.
I don't think they've ever built Daytona 500 pace-car replicas for public sale???

this is very exciting for me. Great news.
Pace cars weren't very pretty as far as paint skeems. Sure beats the 93 "Space" car.

That is a phenomenal idea for an Indy 500 pace car in 2010. Do a white convertible with the orange interior and stripes. You could even do the same graphics on it as well.
I'm going to fire off a Lotus Notes to Settlemire right now.

Disagree. White with blue this go-round, save white with orange for the second time.

Yup the '67 Pace Car was Blue over White with the b-86 stripe on the nose.

I may be mistaken but I think there was suposed to be a little sarcasim hit in there.

No sarcasm, I meant it. But I like the '67 version idea too.

I still think the front end was done with way too heavy of a touch. "Chunky" like that to me says "truck" (and I've posted pretty much the same elsewhere). Put up two windows side by side, one with the new pace car and the one with True's and you'll see what I mean. Trunk area's a little heavy, too.
The paint scheme is a little too far out there for people like me, but that was probably intentional.

Put in orange seats and a Track Pace Car Logo and to me even that would be very nice compared to the one that started this thread.
Sorry Trapin, I honestly thought you were a bit torqued. I stand corrected. Since the new camaro was first introduced, I pictured it as an '09 set up the same as the '69 and pacing the '09 Indy 500. Maybe I was the only one but I did hope it would happen.

OK it's growing on me now, looked pretty damn good pacing the race today!

Was it just me, or did the car look really wide compared to the race cars? Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan, but I'd read in earlier posts where others thought it was a big car. That was the first impression I got when they showed it pacing the field.

Have you ever been next to a cup car? They aren't exactly "big",

Heck...they aren't even really "cars" given that the only similarity to the models they represent is in the headlamp and grille decals. The rest of the car is exactly like every other car in the race.

Not the new generation cars yet, but certainly the older ones. I just didn't get that impression when watching the Shelby pace Saturday's Nationwide race: it seemed proportionate in size.

Really all I care about is that we get the chance to buy one and then do what we want with our own. Sometimes it looks like that is getting less and less possible.

A local Chevy dealer I spoke with last week said that the 21 they're expecting to receive have all been pre-sold for a long time at a hefty Dealer mark-up.
