I'm new to the site and I'm looking for some inspiration. I just bought a 71 Camaro and can't decide on going with any of the following combo's. 17/17's, 17/18's, 18/18's, or 18/19's. I really don't want to go any bigger then a 19" wheel. Please show off your rides so I can see how all the sizes look. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can shoot my way.

Excellent suggestion,and what I'd recommend.
17" tires are still way more reasonable that 18's too.

I've never been there but I'm sure gonna check it out. I have been outta the 2nd gen for a while. I had a very unique 96 Camaro SS. It was 1 of 92 with the extra set of R1 wheels and tires. I loved that car but it got to be a real pain working on it. Everything is WAAAAY too tight under the hood. The guy I bought it from ordered every SLP option you could get and kept it in his garage for just over a year and sold it to me. That's the car on my Fquick page. I'm really glad I sold it to start on my 3rd 2nd gen, I love them. I want to see some pics so I can get some ideas. Thanks to everyone on here for help and inspiration. I've never done a Pro Tour style thay have always been like street/ strip cars. I'll keep everyone up on my progress.

Here's one we put 19s and 20s on that looks killer. Those sizes may seem extreme but will give you a good idea of how 18s and 19s will fit and look.

Check out the photos at this site of my car and others, these will help you to determine the sizes that you are looking for. Mine has 17x9.5s on the front with17x11s on the rear. Johns right too, 18s will cost more. That might be something to consider when making your choice.

No Mini Tub, just massaged the Seat Belt hump and rolled the lip.. I am running a 315/35/17 right now.. I was going to buy a 335 to see if I can get it to fit.. :smoke: I have about an 1/2 inch on the inside and 1/4 inch on the outside..

Keep the pics coming. All of the cars are awesome looking. No offense to the 1st gen guys, but I think the 2nd gens look the best when it cmes to PT.

Those are the tires I plan to run once I get the car on the road but in a 315/35/17.. I have cheap Sumitomos on it right now so I can roll it around..

I like those wheels! Clean, straight forward five spoke always looks good on a 2nd Gen Camaro, and those Intro Classics get it done nicely!

The Minilites look good on your car. I remember those wheels on a pair of Hugger Camaros here in FL. 2 brothers each had a Hugger Camaro. One had an orange one and the other brother had a white one. I liked them except for the front bumper covers.

I have a second Gen with a 12 bolt from a Formula 400 bird. When I changed from my stock axle with 10x17 6" bs with Goodyear 275 F1's to the 12 bolt the wheels looked lost, almost stock. I now run 17 x 11 with 315 Kuhmo's and MT Drag radials. They look just rightl. They are flush with the outer lip and depending on the shape of the tyre side wall could actually sit under the arch.

Vintage Wheelworks V-45's with 2 prong fake knock offs I found locally and a buddy of mine who is a machinist made the stanchions for them so we could draw them as close to the wheel center as possible.

I'm looking at a similar tire combo on my 2nd gen project and I really like the ride height on your car.

I just checked now. At the pinch weld, the back is 6 1/4", the front is 5"
My subframe is 4". The lowest thing is the headers and exhaust, it clears speed bumps but I need to be crawling.
I have the DSE 3" drop leafs in the back and QA1 adjustable coil-overs in the front. Tried the hotchkis first but it dropped the car only a 1/2". Caused me a lot of headaches trying to make them work. I would never go the coil spring route again after using QA1s

My goal is to get the car to a dead even 5.5" ride height all the way around. So it looks like i am going to have to raise the floor up to attain the ride height i am looking for.

Fun Fun Fun

Nope no mini-tub. I thought about it, but the price of the kit, the narrowed tank, the wheels and the tires made my decision for me! The car hooks up great with the setup now. Maybe I'll go that route on a future project
