I have the stock steering box in my Tempest and wondering how difficult it is to swap for a quick ratio steering box? Do you basically disconnect the lines and remove the old and put in the new? Is there any type of bleeding after installing the new box?
Next question is I have a 1967 Pontiac Tempest, so what is the correct quick ratio box to switch to?
Thanks in advance!

2nd Gen Trans am boxes are nice and cheap.
You might have to swap out your pitman arm. That can be a pia without the proper tools. I've done it with 2 big hammers and a pry bar in the wrecking yard before.
Easy job.

Depending on how worn it is, you could also send it to Chip at Power Steering Specialists. He can rebuild it and replace it with 12:1 quick ratio gearing. Then it'd be nice, tight and basically new. I can't remember which ones are completely correct or not, but some of the boxes that bolt up exactly have a different stop to stop turning radius for your a-body.

Your new power steering box might have different threads to connect the lines, you might have to get adapters.
Yes, you need to 'bleed' the system, just do a search on the internet for power steering bleeding, it's easy...
I bought from www.cvsteering.com when I upgraded. Tom the owner is the most knowledgable steering guy I have ever talked to...
