That's like moving to Hollywood because you've seen a few movies and becoming an actor looks like a great way to get rich. There's an old joke about how the best way to end up with a million dollars in the car business is to start with two million, and it's not too far off. For every Chip Foose, there are a hundred mechanics you never hear about hoping they can get enough overtime to get the next few go-fast bits for their own ride.
Do what you really want to do and the money will follow, and even if it doesn't, hey, you get to spend your days doing what you really want to do.
(If you have no idea what that is, try hard to pick up some marketable skills until you figure it out.)
See how the car show you're working on goes. There's a big market for car shows / trade shows / trade associations / trade journals, so if you can do a couple shows successfully, you might be able to turn that into a workable entrepreneurial endeavor.
Good luck!

Careful about doing what you love for a job – working with cars can burn out your love for cars ()or basket weaving or whittling or open heart surgery, etc…. I once read the comment “do what you love 2nd for a living”.
