I've been looking at what's out there for these cars. For the front end I've seen the stuff from Global West and Total Control. Do they offer a significant improvement over rebuilding the factory suspension? In the rear, I guess it's more basic with the leafs. Are there any good power steering box replacements available? Thnx

Ford ... stinks?

No, it doesn't stink. It seems like pro-touring is dominated by the early Camaro however. The further away you get from this (Nova, then Chevelle, then G body, then Mustang, then E body Mopars, then other Fords) the less there is as far as PT is concerned it seems. I have a Mustang, and there is a lot of products for it. Much of it can be adapted to your Ranchero. Might try calling Air Ride Technologies and see what they have for you as far as air ride systems if your interested. If your looking for more conventional stuff then GW and TCP are probably your best bet. You might want to contact John at Opentracker Racing Products as well. He may be able to suggest some simple mods. BTW, I love the 68-69 Rancheros! Good luck with yours.

The GW stuff is not even comparable with stock rebuild... it's a whole 'nother class of handling.

I forgot about RRS. They have a front coilover strut suspension and rack and pinion for the 69 Torino (would work for your Ranchero since the front end is the same). Not saying RRS is better, just giving you options.

There are several options out there, all depends on what your goals are and how much you are looking to spend.

Do you plan on drag racing your car, running open track events or autocross, or just want improved handling for street driving?

I did not like the options that were out there for my 1968 Torino, so I went out in left field and adapted a 2004 Mustang Cobra suspension into my car. Didn't cost all the much.. just takes lots of time fabrication wise.
